Prachinburi, an ancient city near Bangkok that I, mr.hotsia, must experience

I, mr.hotsia, have traveled from the Northeast, passing through Ta Phraya district, then on to Bangkok, but Prachinburi province has always been one destination I never seriously stopped at, despite passing by many times. This time, I intend to explore deeply, visiting every district in this province—from Prachinburi town, Kabin Buri, Na Dee, Sa Kaeo, Wang Nam Yen, Ban Sang, Prachantakham, Sri Maha Phot, Sri Mueang Ho, Aranyaprathet, Ta Phraya, Watthana Nakhon, to Khlong Hat—to capture the true stories and images of this place to share.

Prachinburi province has a charm distinctly different from other provinces in Eastern Thailand. It’s not just because it borders Sa Kaeo and Kabin Buri, but also because of a lifestyle that seamlessly blends Thai and Chinese cultures. Upon arrival, I found bustling local markets, flavorful local dishes, and serene temples full of devotion.

The charm of each district in Prachinburi

Starting with Prachinburi town, although not a large city, it has a warm, homely atmosphere where you see people moving about in a friendly manner. The fresh market here is a hub for fresh ingredients including vegetables, fruits, and many local foods. I, mr.hotsia, enjoy stopping by to try breakfast at a famous stall in the market and then stroll around to observe the villagers’ way of life.

Kabin Buri is a district important for transportation and stable agriculture. Besides vast rice fields and rich nature, there are several interesting ancient temples. Na Dee and Wang Nam Yen are small, peaceful communities perfect for relaxation and still preserve traditional lifestyles well.

Equally interesting districts are Aranyaprathet and Ta Phraya, which connect to Sa Kaeo province and the Cambodian border. From my experience, mr.hotsia, these districts have very lively border markets, such as the well-known Rong Kluea Market, a center for secondhand goods and products from Cambodia. Although I didn’t visit Rong Kluea Market on this trip, I have it in mind to return and present full coverage for fans of hotsia.com.

The lifestyle and culture I, mr.hotsia, experienced

One of my impressions is seeing temples and schools in each district that still maintain a perfect blend of Thai and Chinese cultural identity. The temples here vary in architecture and history worth studying. Some are over a hundred years old, with well-preserved Buddha images and murals. Additionally, community schools are important centers where locals place great value; they are places where children learn and grow warmly.

Regarding food, I, mr.hotsia, recommend trying local dishes with a mild flavor and hints of Chinese influence, such as Zhengxin Chicken Steak (正新鸡排), a popular dish in the local Chinese community. For a unique experience, try Beggar's Chicken (叫化鸡), an ancient Chinese dish baked in clay and lotus leaves. I have made this dish myself and recorded a video for fans of hotsia.com.

Travel and access to Prachinburi province

Traveling to Prachinburi is very convenient from Bangkok, taking about 2-3 hours by car. If coming from the Northeast via Ta Phraya and Kabin Buri, it’s an interesting route with many rest stops. I, mr.hotsia, enjoy traveling this way because it allows me to truly experience local lifestyles and capture video memories.

Connections to nearby interesting provinces

Since Prachinburi is close to Sa Kaeo province, I, mr.hotsia, would like to recommend a visit there as well.Sa Kaeo ProvinceIt is a newly established province with interesting border markets and a lifestyle different from Prachinburi, but not far away. It’s suitable for those who enjoy continuous, full travel trips.

Finally, I, mr.hotsia, want everyone to have the chance to visit Prachinburi—not just passing through or stopping briefly, but spending two or three days to truly experience the lifestyle, try local food, stroll markets and temples, and talk with locals. I guarantee you will have a unique experience. Don’t forget to follow me, mr.hotsia, as I share fun images and stories from Prachinburi and nearby provinces.
