By the time you reach Luang Prabang, you will be very tired. Not recommended. Travel caution: If crossing from Thai side Chiang Khong to Huay Sai, some people may set up tables selling boat tickets, telling you buses are sold out and recommending buying boat tickets. If unsure, walk past first and check ticket shops inside where there are many shops with better prices.
