The garden aims to provide relaxation and leisure for people nationwide and to educate visitors about the lifestyles of different regions. Construction of the National Landmark Garden began on November 10, 2008. When I visited, it was fully completed. It features houses representing various ethnic groups across the country such as Mon, Karen, Kachin, Shan, and others. There is a water amusement park, playground equipment, a haunted house, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and important replicas from across the country.
I noticed they focus on attracting Burmese visitors, which I think makes the price cheaper than for foreigners. I paid 300 baht (10,000 kyats) to visit. I believe Burmese visitors pay around 1,000 kyats. There is a shuttle vehicle to tour the site; to see everything properly, it would take about 6 hours. However, I wanted to visit other places, so I stayed only 3 hours. I also tried the rafting and the haunted house, which cost an extra 30 baht. The place felt a bit neglected, with grass growing around, giving a somewhat strange impression.
300 baht might not be very cost-effective, but if you have nothing else to do, it’s worth a visit. Maintenance might have changed since my visit. At the entrance, there is a tall tower, but I didn’t go up to see the view. The National Landmark Garden is near the military zone and the SEA Games stadium. For traveling around, I recommend renting a motorcycle for 450 baht per day to explore various spots. On the way out, they offer trips to a safari and zoo, but I didn’t stop there as I’m not very interested. Instead, I stopped to eat at a small rural restaurant.
