The original people of Chaiyaphum migrated from Vientiane since 1817 B.E. (1774 AD), led by Lord Phaya Lae. Later, they came under the reign of King Rama IV. There was a battle at Thung Korat where Ya Mo fought, and Lord Phaya Lae joined the fight.
Later, Chao Anuwong took control of Chaiyaphum and asked Phaya Lae to join him, but he refused and was eventually executed. Today, there is a monument of Lord Phaya Lae for the people of Chaiyaphum to pay respects. Chaiyaphum province is located in a basin area prone to flooding. Locals jokingly say that even when it doesn't rain, it can still flood here. Nevertheless, this province is well-developed, peaceful, and a great place to relax for a long time. I traveled here and stayed two nights at Dee Prom Hotel.
Driving around, there are plenty of comfortable parking spots, wide roads, and friendly, relaxed people. Chaiyaphum is one of my dream cities where I think I might live in the future. When I visited, I woke up early to walk through the morning market and saw locals waiting to offer alms to the monk of Wat Pha Koeng. It was a very impressive scene. In the evening, there is a friendly walking street with abundant food. I ate grilled fish at Som Tum Krung Kao and had dinner at Oishi Rice Porridge restaurant.
The nightlife atmosphere in Chaiyaphum is very interesting with several places to sit and listen to music. Mr.Hotsia October 2011 traveled from Lom Sak to Chaiyaphum.
