Locals in Hua Hin say this will continue for another two or three days.
The water stranding has caused millions of fish to wash up dead on the beach. Locals are walking along the shore collecting edible fish. Besides fish, there are also shrimp, shellfish, crabs, squid, and rays of all kinds. Some locals use spears to catch fish along the beach, filling sacks with their catch. Besides Hua Hin, this water stranding is also expected along several beaches in the Gulf of Thailand near Phetchaburi, as news reports mention it happening at South Cha-am Beach as well. The oxygen levels in the seawater change so rapidly that fish cannot adapt and end up stranded on the shore.
