There is an additional attraction for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays, but Mr.Hotsia recommends coming on the 2nd lunar day for a better atmosphere (check which day corresponds to which lunar day here). At Tha Kha Market, locals gather to offer tourists boat rides to see the gardens, coconut sugar making, and the ancient house where King Rama V once stopped by. I think if you visit here, you should take a boat tour because it's affordable and directly supports the local people.

Moreover, the atmosphere here is truly a complete garden home. Soon, it will be hard to find such places. Accommodation at Tha Kha Floating Market includes homestays costing only a few hundred baht per night, where you stay and eat with the locals. The price includes three meals. There are also room accommodations priced between 400-1000 baht depending on the location. Overall, prices are cheaper than Amphawa and the environment is more natural. However, Amphawa has nightlife vibrancy that Tha Kha Floating Market does not. Mr.Hotsia, October 2011.

The history originates from Tha Kha Floating Market, originally called Tha Kha Market, which operated at Tha Kha field, Village No. 5, Tha Kha Subdistrict. Merchants from Tha Kha and nearby subdistricts in Amphawa and Bang Khonthi districts, and some from Ratchaburi, would paddle boats carrying agricultural products to Tha Kha field. Meanwhile, people from Mueang district would bring seafood to trade and exchange at Tha Kha field.

The market was scheduled on the 2nd, 7th, and 12th lunar days (especially if these days fall on weekends, many tourists, both Thai and foreign, visit). The reason for this schedule was to avoid overlapping with nearby markets such as Bang Chak, Bang Noi, and Bang Nok Kwaek. However, because some people intercepted goods along the way to resell, the market moved back to its current location in Village No. 2.

Tha Kha Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province, renamed as Tha Kha Floating Market. The people of Tha Kha have a lifestyle of waterway trade. Originally, they farmed medicinal plants, garlic, lettuce, etc. But due to frequent flooding during the rainy season, they switched to planting coconuts in ridges instead. The people of Tha Kha live naturally in a shady area.

There are many canals flowing through, with tides rising and falling twice daily according to the sea. The community lives in harmony and unity, mostly of the same lineage, living simply without extravagance.... http://www.thakha.go.th Video of coconut sugar making by Tha Kha floating market locals.
