Wang Nam Khiao: The destination of lush greenery and fresh air in Korat

When talking about Wang Nam Khiao, many people think of the lush greenery and fresh air, considered one of the world's best ozone areas. Mr.Hotsia is one of those who fell in love with the atmosphere and charm here, visiting multiple times and wanting to share my real experiences.

Wang Nam Khiao is located in Nakhon Ratchasima province, or Korat as we call it. It is a highland area at the edge of Khao Yai. The area is quite elevated above sea level, making the weather cool and comfortable all year round, especially in winter when temperatures drop, allowing you to feel the freshness and moisture of nature. For those who want a peaceful visit to see the green grass fields and beautiful trees, this season is also recommended.

Travel routes and zones of Wang Nam Khiao

If you drive from Korat, the route passes Khao Pak Thong Chai, a spot I like to stop for a break and enjoy the beautiful view before heading up to Wang Nam Khiao. At the mountain junction, you'll see many signs for accommodations ranging from small resorts to large ones. However, outside the winter season, most accommodations only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, making weekday lodging quite difficult.

Wang Nam Khiao is divided into two main sides: the Wang Nam Khiao district side in Prachinburi province and the Khao Phaeng Ma side in Nakhon Ratchasima. The Prachinburi side still operates accommodations and resorts normally with clear land titles. The Khao Phaeng Ma side has land issues causing some resorts to cease operations. Most accommodations there are luxury and quite expensive, which may not suit adventurous travelers or those like Mr.Hotsia.

The vibrancy and lifestyle in Wang Nam Khiao

During my visit to Wang Nam Khiao, I noticed continuous development: there is a PTT gas station, ATMs, and 7-11 convenience stores, so you don’t have to worry about refueling or finding food along the way. The market in Wang Nam Khiao district remains lively, with affordable noodle shops frequented by locals and restaurants for tourists with higher prices reflecting their popularity.

For Mr.Hotsia, I like to stop and eat spicy stir-fried sea fish at the restaurant opposite the market. It’s run by people from Paed Riew who moved here. Prices are quite high for the low season, but the taste is worth the price. The food is homestyle, using fresh ingredients, and you get the atmosphere of a small community still living simply.

Nearby attractions and recommended activities

Wang Nam Khiao is not only about nature and accommodations but is also close to important tourist attractions in Korat worth visiting, such asPhimai Historical Parkwhich Mr.Hotsia has visited and shared detailed experiences about. If you want to explore Korat city, there are many interesting places as well.Explore Koratto fully experience both culture and local cuisine

Another must-visit spot in this area isPario Khao Yaia shopping and photo spot with a European atmosphere that I like to visit to update beautiful pictures on social media for friends to see.

Ending with a steak meal at Chokchai

After touring Wang Nam Khiao, before returning to Bangkok, I never miss stopping atChokchai Steakhousefamous in Korat for tender, flavorful steaks. If you like grilled meat, you must not miss their menu. They also have pork, fish, and chicken steaks for those who don’t eat beef. Don’t forget to try the fresh grape juice here, which is delicious and not overly sweet. It becomes the perfect final destination to complete the trip.

Summary of Mr.Hotsia’s experience with Wang Nam Khiao

For me, Wang Nam Khiao is truly a place to relax, soak in the cool natural atmosphere, breathe fresh air, and drive around nearby areas comfortably without rushing. It’s not about nightlife or bright lights but about nature, homestyle food, and lush mountain views.

To get the most out of a trip to Wang Nam Khiao, plan to come during the winter season when everything is ready, accommodations are fully open, and prices are slightly higher than in summer but definitely worth it. The beauty of flowers and the freshness of the air will leave you unforgettable impressions.

If you want to try a travel route like Mr.Hotsia’s, I recommend combining it with visits to Korat or Phimai Historical Park to see the overall charm of the unique Lower Northeastern region. For a delicious final destination, Chokchai Steakhouse impressed me the most on this trip.
