My parents have eaten at this place before. Khao Stew, Nang Ngam Road, Songkhla is very delicious

When talking about “Khao Stew” in Songkhla, the name Nang Ngam Road must be one of the first that comes to mind. Because here is a Khao Stew restaurant that I, mr.hotsia, have personally eaten at and was so impressed that I want to share it with everyone to try.

Songkhla, a city full of charm with diverse local dishes, both authentic southern flavors and a nostalgic old-time atmosphere. Nang Ngam Road is one of the small streets hiding what I think are very special eateries. The Khao Stew restaurant I’m talking about is not just any place, but one my parents took me to since I was a child. I can say, “If this place is delicious for them, I’m confident it must be truly great.”

I remember walking into the restaurant, the atmosphere felt warm, like stepping back in time to when Songkhla still held the simple seaside life. This place isn’t decorated luxuriously or modernly, but the way they prepare the Khao Stew is extraordinary.

The Khao Stew here uses tender, slow-cooked pork that’s deeply flavorful. The broth is rich but not too salty or too sweet. The blend of Western spices with southern herbs is perfectly balanced, clearly different from the Khao Stew I’ve had in Bangkok or other provinces. Served with hot steamed rice and pickled vegetables that cut through the richness well, it’s a comforting taste like a home-cooked meal.

Besides Khao Stew, I had a chance to stroll around Nang Ngam Road and saw a small market full of local Songkhla foods. Here you can find Khanom Jeen with southern curry, and Khanom Pak Kad, which many people are familiar with. If you’re interested in intense southern flavors, I recommend stopping by.Khanom Pak Kad at Kim Yong Market, Hat YaiThe location isn’t far, so visiting Songkhla means you can try many great dishes.

For those who love to travel and eat like me, mr.hotsia, I can say Songkhla offers more than just beaches or beautiful temples. The local food here has stories and fascinating flavors. I’ve also written about eating pig tail noodles in Hat Yai in another article.Traveling the 3 Southern Border Provinces 1/15: Eating Pig Tail Noodles at Yinkit, Hat YaiWhich is not far away and another stop I recommend if you want to experience authentic southern food.

When thinking of Songkhla, I also think of fresh seafood and local dishes using seafood ingredients, such as spicy stir-fried sea catfish at Ranot, which I’ve shared in an article.Spicy Stir-Fried Sea Catfish, Ranot, SongkhlaAnother side of Songkhla not to be missed.

Back to Nang Ngam Road, the Khao Stew restaurant I recommend is like a family memory representing the food and lifestyle of Songkhla people. I like that this place doesn’t try to be fancy or overly complex in flavor but focuses on sincerity of ingredients and careful preparation.

For anyone wanting to try family-style deliciousness in Songkhla, I recommend taking a walk on Nang Ngam Road to find the Khao Stew restaurant I, mr.hotsia, have described. Enjoy the old-style atmosphere that still preserves Songkhla’s character well. If you want to see the real atmosphere, you can watch the video I recorded atMy parents have eaten at this place before. Khao Stew, Nang Ngam Road, Songkhla is very deliciouswhere I carefully captured the atmosphere and flavors.

Finally, I want to say that traveling to find local food with stories like the Khao Stew restaurant in Songkhla is truly experiencing culture through taste. It’s not just eating to fill up but eating to find memories and good feelings connected to the people and city we love. Anyone visiting Songkhla, don’t forget to stop by Nang Ngam Road and try this Khao Stew. I guarantee it’s “very delicious” as rumored.
