Azib Roti Satun: Crispy yet soft Southern roti that mr.hotsia must recommend

When talking about breakfast in Satun, a small province at the southernmost part of Thailand bordering Malaysia, believe it or not, “roti” has become one of the favorite dishes here. For mr.hotsia, the roti atAzib Rotiis a must-visit destination when coming to Satun.

Azib Roti shop is located on Buriwanit Road, opposite Singkiat Thani Hotel in Satun town. A small, simple shop filled with the aroma of freshly fried crispy roti every morning. I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to sit and eat with the locals here. Many came with their families, some with friends. It was a warm scene full of smiles from southern people.

The roti here is different from the usual crispy roti sold in markets. It’s crispy outside, soft inside, and not greasy or heavy. Most importantly, when eaten with “goat milk tea,” a rare and famous drink in Satun, the taste is unique. The goat milk tea has a mild, distinctive aroma—not too strong to be overwhelming. I recommend dipping the roti into the goat milk tea; you’ll be surprised by how well they complement each other.

Besides dipping in milk tea, there are also curry sauces to choose from to eat with the roti. But personally, I prefer just dipping in milk tea for enjoyment. The shop opens from early morning, 6 AM until noon. If you love good breakfast, come early. If you come late, you might miss out and regret it like I once did.

Satun: A small town full of flavors and culture

Satun is not just about roti. This town has charms you must experience, including the night market I once walked through,Satun Night Marketwhich is full of authentic southern food like the delicious beef offal soup that makes you want to come back for more, or the famous dim sum restaurantGo Auanthat I have visited. The bold flavors satisfy true southern palates, and there’s always a long queue.

The atmosphere in Satun blends Thai and Malay cultures perfectly. People live simply but warmly. I, mr.hotsia, enjoy walking around the town in the morning and stopping by Azib Roti before exploring the town or visiting the night market in the evening. It’s an experience that truly shows the lifestyle of southern people.

Easy travel, close to culture, and delicious food

Traveling to Satun is easy. There are buses and vans from Hat Yai or nearby provinces that take only a few hours. Upon arrival in town, I recommend staying at Singkiat Thani Hotel, which is close to Azib Roti and Go Auan restaurants, convenient for traveling and dining around town.

One morning with Azib Roti was a great start to the day. The aroma of freshly fried roti greeted me as I opened the shop door. Looking around, there were tourists and locals quietly enjoying roti together. A large glass of goat milk tea ordered alongside the roti made the atmosphere warm and memorable.

If you visit Satun province, don’t forget to stop by Azib Roti. I, mr.hotsia, guarantee you will fall in love with the taste and lifestyle of Satun people just like I did.
