Travel to Thi Lo Su, Enjoy Mookata at Kham Sing Homestay
When it comes to adventure in Tak Province, the name “Thi Lo Su” definitely comes to mind first for nature travelers like me, Mr.Hotsia. Thi Lo Su is not only a nationally renowned beautiful waterfall, but it is also a route full of stories, lifestyles, and the perfect blend of Northern Thai flavors in the Umphang area, Tak Province.
I started my journey from Tak town heading to Umphang District. The winding road through mountains and lush forests was an exciting experience. The road, although very curvy as seen inthe video Oh! Umphang Todaywas surprisingly good. Along both sides of the road, the views of the Moei River and mountains I had seen inthe Moei River, Mae Sot, Myawaddy articlemade the trip not just about reaching the destination but also about experiencing nature and local lifestyles.
Thi Lo Su, the Magical Waterfall of Umphang
Thi Lo Su waterfall is often called the “Waterfall of Heaven” due to its height and the beautiful mist that forms a curtain of water all year round. I trekked along a challenging trail that was steep and slippery, but every step brought me closer to nature.
The sound of water hitting the rocks created a rhythm that made me stop to take photos and rest amidst the cool air and fresh forest surroundings. Although the path was tiring, standing in front of Thi Lo Su made all the effort worthwhile.
Mookata at Kham Sing Homestay
After the forest adventure, what I looked forward to most was dinner at Kham Sing Homestay. This small homestay surrounded by nature is not just accommodation but a place to share culture and local food.
The Mookata here is not ordinary. Fresh local ingredients, fresh vegetables, waterfall fish, and large pork pieces marinated with the villagers’ special recipe make every bite full of flavor and warmth, like eating with family.
The atmosphere around Kham Sing Homestay was lit by lanterns and the natural sounds of nighttime insects. My travel companions and I sat around the Mookata grill, sharing stories from the day. It was a simple but deeply fulfilling happiness.
Lifestyle and Local Market in Umphang
The next morning, I woke up to stroll through Umphang’s morning market. It was quiet but lively in the way of a small community. Fresh vegetables and fruits from villagers, Tai Yai desserts, and local foods hard to find in big cities reminded me of the markets in Tak town I had visited.Tai Yai Desserts, Mae Sot Morning MarketI also tried a local breakfast different from what I had eaten atJ2 Hotel Mae Sot breakfastas well.
I talked with vendors and learned about the Tai Yai people and nearby communities, the history of local dishes passed down through generations. It made me realize that besides beautiful nature, Umphang has a cultural depth beyond what I expected.
Travel Tips from Mr.Hotsia
If you plan to visit Thi Lo Su, don’t forget to prepare for potentially tough trekking. Shoes should be slip-resistant, and bring water and snacks. For accommodation, choosing a homestay like Kham Sing will help you experience the true life of Umphang.
Also, don’t miss tasting the local Mookata at the homestay. If you want to try other Northern Thai dishes, I recommend stopping by markets and restaurants in Tak town such asTAK food, Stir-fried Basil in Tak Provinceor try the delicious street food atTak Night Marketwhich is another great option.
