Nong Bua Lamphu Dinosaur Museum: A must-visit stop for dinosaur lovers

Hello, I'm mr.hotsia. Today, I'll take you to experience something new atNong Bua Lamphu Dinosaur MuseumNong Bua Lamphu Province, which many people might not know has some hidden gems. I had the chance to stop here on my way back from Udon Thani, and I must say it was a very impressive stop that I want to recommend everyone to experience for themselves.

This museum is located at Ban Huai Duea, Non Than Subdistrict, Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu District, about 10 kilometers from the city center, on the main Nong Bua Lamphu-Udon Thani route. It's easy to get there; I drove a short distance. The exhibits here are not just static fossils like in typical museums, but the highlight is the realistic dinosaur models that move and roar like real living creatures. I found myself standing and watching for quite a while.

Special features of the dinosaurs here

What impressed me the most was the dinosaur models in the museum. They are not just still statues but move and roar in very realistic timing. When I stood right in front of one, it started moving immediately. Sometimes, if no one is nearby, you can press a button at the back to activate the display yourself. The feeling when the dinosaur moves and roars is both cute and scary at the same time. It's an experience not easily found in a small province like this.

Additionally, the museum houses fossilized bivalve shells about 150 million years old, which is an important discovery in this area. This makes the place not only a dinosaur viewing spot but also a learning center about the natural history and geology of Nong Bua Lamphu.

Connecting a complete travel experience in Nong Bua Lamphu

After finishing my dinosaur tour, I stopped by nearby interesting places such asWat Tham Kong Phlolocated on Phu Phan Noi, and Buaban Forest Park, Tao To Waterfall, which are beautiful natural attractions of the province. Nong Bua Lamphu has a lot to explore. If you like nature and history trips, I recommend planning a full itinerary.

If you travel here, don't forget to experience the local lifestyle and try the local food atNong Bua Lamphu Evening Marketwhich is not far from the museum. This evening market offers a variety of foods, including delicious grilled chicken, papaya salad bags that you can mix yourself to your liking, and a lively atmosphere where I was greeted by many people while filming.

For breakfast lovers, I recommend visitingNong Bua Lamphu Morning Marketwhere you can enjoy authentic local breakfast dishes like Khao Piak Sen and Vietnamese Jjup, fragrant with spices and very flavorful. I made a video about it; anyone interested can check it out (link below).

Travel tips and advice from mr.hotsia

To get to the Nong Bua Lamphu Dinosaur Museum, take the main road from Nong Bua Lamphu city heading to Udon Thani. After about 10 kilometers, you will see clear signs for the entrance. If you don't want to drive, you can take a bus to Udon Thani and get off nearby, then take a taxi or motorcycle taxi to the museum.

I recommend allowing at least 1 hour to explore here fully, so you can enjoy the dinosaurs, take photos with the unique moving dinosaur models, and read detailed information about the fossils and local history.

Where to stay in Nong Bua Lamphu

If you plan to fully explore Nong Bua Lamphu city, I suggest choosing accommodation in the city center for easy access to attractions like the evening market and the dinosaur museum, as well as many local restaurants. I once stayed at a small hotel in town that was affordable and had great service. In the morning, I could easily walk to the morning market for local food.

Summary of impressions from mr.hotsia

Nong Bua Lamphu Dinosaur Museum is one of the places I, mr.hotsia, was very impressed with in this province. Not only because of the moving and roaring dinosaur models that feel alive, but also because of the opportunity to learn about fossils and the natural history of this area, which is rare to find in Thailand. Moreover, the connection with nearby attractions and the lifestyle of Nong Bua Lamphu people made this trip complete.

If you are planning to travel to Udon Thani or want to visit a province that remains peaceful and charming like this, don't forget to stop here. I guarantee you will leave with great memories just like I did.
