Hung Yen Province: The heart of the Red River Delta that mr.hotsia fell in love with

When talking about a province located in the center of the Red River Delta in Vietnam, one that mr.hotsia must call the heart of this journey isHung Yen ProvinceA small province full of charm and vitality, located about 64 kilometers southeast of Hanoi and only 50 kilometers from Hai Duong Province.

When I arrived in Hung Yen city, the capital of this province, the first thing I felt was a simple atmosphere nestled among low hills, forests, mountains, and surrounding waters. The climate here is tropical humid with four distinct seasons: bright spring, hot summer, cool autumn, and cold winter breezes. The rainy season starts from late April and lasts until October, a time when locals intensively focus on agriculture.

Hung Yen Bicycle Market: A Unique Life Perspective

The experience that impressed me the most about Hung Yen was walking through theBicycle Marketof this city. A unique market filled with colorful bicycles neatly lined up—flower bicycles, fruit bicycles, and bicycles loaded with goods bustling with activity. It’s a warm and lively scene that’s hard to describe.

I strolled through this market from early dawn until late morning, seeing locals trading energetically, some chatting amicably. Some shops offered freshly made food samples to try immediately. This simplicity reminded me of a community life that firmly preserves its traditional identity. Anyone who loves photography or wants to experience authentic Vietnamese lifestyle should not miss this place.

Local Food to Try: Hung Yen’s Signature Fried Rice

After walking around until hungry, I didn’t miss the chance to tasteHung Yen’s signature fried ricewhich has a unique character. Dry fried rice mixed with pickled mustard greens and small pieces of pork, rich yet mellow in flavor, served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce that enhances the taste perfectly. It’s a simple dish but so charming that anyone who tries it will surely fall in love just like mr.hotsia.

Additionally, the city has several cozy coffee shops. I chose to sip coffee at the first shop located in front of the bicycle market, enjoying the aroma of freshly roasted coffee and the lively atmosphere from passersby. The second was a street-side coffee shop with a warm ambiance and a lovely Vietnamese girl serving coffee, making my coffee experience in Hung Yen full of flavor and memorable feelings.

City Lake and a Park Full of Stories

In Hung Yen city, there is also acity lakedeveloped into a park for locals and tourists to relax. The area around the lake is decorated with long brick walls all around, a unique feature I have never seen elsewhere. Young couples in Hung Yen carve their names and their lovers’ names on these bricks until every brick is filled. It’s a cute and romantic sight, like recording the love stories and memories of the people in this city.

If you are looking for a travel destination not far from Hanoi and want to experience authentic Vietnamese lifestyle along with local food and charming atmosphere, Hung Yen Province is a highly recommended choice by mr.hotsia. Don’t forget to stroll through the bicycle market, try Hung Yen fried rice, and enjoy coffee in the city. Then you will understand why I fell in love with this place so deeply.
