When talking about Danang (Đà Nẵng) city in Vietnam, many people think of beautiful beaches, clear sea water, and refreshing city views. But for me, mr.hotsia, trying “fishing” in Danang Bay is a special experience full of the true local lifestyle atmosphere.

Danang is an important port city in Vietnam, located on the central coastline. It has a wide bay and a strong fishing community. The lifestyle of fishermen along the bay here is similar to fishermen in many coastal cities worldwide: working with passion and truly relying on nature.

Travel and Atmosphere Along Danang Bay

I, mr.hotsia, started from the heart of Danang city, traveling by rented motorbike along the coastal road. One early morning when I woke up to go fishing, the sea breeze mixed with the salty scent floated in the air. Local fishermen prepared their equipment diligently—nets, hooks, and squid-catching gear. I joined them closely. The medium-sized wooden boat slowly sailed away from shore, passing fishing villages that still live simply.

Fishing Techniques of Danang Fishermen

Interestingly, their fishing methods are unique. Fishermen here drag nets along the shore during high tide and sometimes catch squid by hand in shallow water. I, mr.hotsia, tried dragging the net myself and realized it’s not easy; it requires skill and great patience.

The catch includes small fish, squid, and cutlassfish. Sometimes they catch fairly large fish. Most importantly, the freshness is evident from start to finish. Seeing the fish caught being sold by the roadside or in fresh markets clearly tells the story of Danang fishermen’s way of life.

Fishing Markets and Fresh Seafood Along the Bay

After dragging the nets, fishermen sell their catch along the roadside by the beach or at the old market in Danang city. This market is especially lively in the morning and is one of my favorite stops because besides seeing fresh seafood, you can also taste freshly cooked traditional seafood dishes.
