Train Ride from Hue to Da Nang: A route filled with coastal beauty and authentic Vietnamese lifestyle by mr.hotsia

Traveling by train from Hue (Huế) to Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) is one of the most memorable experiences for me, mr.hotsia, while exploring Central Vietnam. This route is not just about changing cities but about experiencing beautiful natural scenery and the simple yet charming local way of life along the way.

I started at Hue Railway Station, a city rich in history and culture. Buying train tickets here is very easy; you can purchase them through hotels or accommodation agencies. Don’t worry about the language barrier as most Vietnamese are familiar with tourists. There are many trains running from Hue to Da Nang with various classes including sleeper and seated cars. The prices are very reasonable compared to the convenience and the views you get throughout the journey.

As the train departs from Hue, you will see ever-changing natural landscapes passing through mountains and a long coastline. The train runs along the coast all the way until near Da Nang. I, mr.hotsia, took the train leisurely to fully capture the beautiful coastal atmosphere of Central Vietnam.

One highlight of this railway route is passing through the Hai Van Tunnel, the longest tunnel in Southeast Asia, over 6.3 kilometers long. Here, I had the chance to watch the view through the train window as it passed through mountains and the sea. It felt like sailing on a path surrounded by pure nature. The atmosphere here reminded me of the peacefulness and simplicity of Vietnamese life I encountered in many towns.

Upon arriving in Da Nang, I recommend staying at seaside hotels with beautiful views such asSeaside Hotels with Beautiful Views in Da Nangwhich offer affordable prices and great atmospheres. Most of these hotels are located along long sandy beaches with exciting beach activities like watching fishermen drag nets to catch small fish, squid, and the unique swordfish of Da Nang.

Da Nang is a city that perfectly blends modernity with local culture. I, mr.hotsia, enjoy walking along the beach roads and the Han River, where beautiful bridges light up sparklingly at night. The atmosphere is wonderful, perfect for strolling and observing local life. There are also many fresh markets and local restaurants to choose from.

For those who love authentic Vietnamese food, I highly recommend trying local dishes at the Da Lat morning market (Da Lat Morning Market), which is not far from Da Nang. This market is where I experienced Vietnamese food culture and fresh produce shopping up close. There are also fresh fruit juices, aloe vera drinks, and traditional Vietnamese dishes to try.

If you continue traveling to Da Lat, located in the Central Highlands, you will find a cool atmosphere and interesting local dishes such as "Bún Riêu," a noodle soup similar to rice vermicelli mixed with fish roe and duck or chicken eggs. It has a rich flavor perfect for the cool weather in Da Lat.Read more about Bún Riêu food in Da Latright here.

For me, mr.hotsia, traveling by train from Hue to Da Nang is not just about transportation but a route full of stories and experiences I want to recommend everyone to try. Whether it’s the beautiful sea views, the exciting Hai Van Tunnel, or the warm Vietnamese roadside lifestyle I saw and felt.

After arriving in Da Nang, if anyone is interested in continuing to Hội An, a nearby UNESCO World Heritage town, I recommend taking a private car or bus from Da Nang to Hội An. It’s convenient, affordable, and offers beautiful views along the way.

Finally, I, mr.hotsia, would like to share a video link I recorded during the train ride from Hue to Da Nang for anyone who wants to see real footage from this journey.
