Ninh Thuận: A peaceful land, the charm of the southern Vietnam coastline that mr.hotsia must visit

When talking about southern coastal provinces of Vietnam, not only beautiful seas but also full of ancient culture and a chill atmosphere that impressed me, mr.hotsia, enough to come back and share again, that isNinh Thuận Provincewhich is one of the destinations that many Thai people may not know well yet, but for me, this is a truly peaceful corner worth exploring.

Ninh Thuận is located south of Nha Trang city, not far from Cam Ranh Airport, about 60 kilometers, and about 350 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. The capital of this province isPhan Rang–Thap Chamwhere I had the chance to spend as long as 3 nights exploring.

The beginning of the journey and first impressions

My journey started from Mui Ne, Binh Thuan Province, by bus of Phuong Trang company. I bought the ticket through Sinh Tourist agent at Mui Ne beach. The trip was easy, the bus departed on time and passed through the complex terrain of southern Vietnam. I got off at Phan Rang city, the main city of Ninh Thuận, just in the evening.

I stayed at the hotelTrang Hawhich is an old but charming hotel with transparent door and window designs, offering clear views of the sea and city atmosphere unlike anywhere else I have stayed in Vietnam. It made me feel at home in this quiet small town. The hotel is budget-friendly, only 330 baht per night, which is very worth it for this experience.

Local lifestyle and food in Phan Rang

What I liked most in Phan Rang was experiencing the genuine local way of life. This is not a mass tourism city but full of cute coffee shops with Vietnamese girls serving and free Wi-Fi for customers to chill for hours. Coffee costs only 7,000 dong, about 10 baht.

Food here is also inexpensive and very delicious, especially my favorite dish:Banh Xeoor Vietnamese savory pancakes, a popular local dish you will see sold almost every meal in Phan Rang. The Banh Xeo here is special because it is generously filled with pork, squid, and shrimp, served with plenty of fresh vegetables. It tastes refreshing and not greasy.

In addition, there is alsoVietnamese Khanom Krokwhich blends the flavor of fried mussels into the Khanom Krok batter, creating a new taste that I tried and loved. It’s like a hybrid between Thai Khanom Krok and Vietnamese fried mussels. You can read details and see photos of this special dish in the articleKhanom Krok: The hybrid of fried mussels and Khanom Krok in Phan Rang, Vietnamthat I wrote earlier.

Cham heritage and ancient sites in Ninh Thuận

Ninh Thuận is not only good for its sea and food but also has very interesting historical and archaeological significance. Archaeologists have discovered ancient stone burial sites over 2,500 years old, evidence of the once flourishing Cham culture. I once drove through the province’s terrain and saw ruins of Cham civilization on small hilltops, which gave a nostalgic and exciting feeling.

For those who love mixed travel of nature and culture, Ninh Thuận is an option not to be missed. Even though I had the chance to stroll around Phan Rang during a rainy storm, it did not lessen my impression because this atmosphere made me feel like discovering a secret corner of southern Vietnam that still preserves its true local identity well.

Recommendations for travelers who want to experience Ninh Thuận

If you are planning to travel southern Vietnam, I recommend visiting Ninh Thuận for at least 2-3 nights to enjoy the beauty of quiet beaches and fully taste local food. Traveling here is not difficult. I suggest taking a bus from Mui Ne or Ho Chi Minh City, just like I did. Traveling province by province like this will help you see the unique charm and differences of each place truly.

For accommodation in Phan Rang, besides the Trang Ha hotel where I stayed, there are many other affordable and comfortable options in the city center. Don’t forget to spend time exploring local markets, small coffee shops, and trying other popular local dishes. I guarantee you will fall in love with Ninh Thuận just like me, mr.hotsia.

Video clips introducing Ninh Thuận food by mr.hotsia

If you want to see the atmosphere of eating grilled button squid or Vietnamese chicken biryani as I experienced in Ninh Thuận, I recommend these clips to get a taste and style of authentic southern Vietnamese eating.

Finally, Ninh Thuận is a province that I, mr.hotsia, want everyone to visit by themselves. Although it is a small town, it is full of warmth from the people, lifestyle, and unique food flavors. Don’t forget to stop by Phan Rang and try Banh Xeo yourself. Then you will know how valuable the small happiness from traveling really is.
