My Tho Noodle, a signature dish of My Tho City, Tien Giang Province

When talking aboutMy Tho Cityin Tien Giang Province, southern Vietnam, one thing that mr.hotsia must say should not be missed is “My Tho Noodle,” a famous dry noodle dish rooted in the Taiwanese Chinese community that settled in this city. My Tho Noodle is not just ordinary food but an art of eating that perfectly blends Chinese and Vietnamese cultures.

I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to travel here in February 2012 and must say that tasting My Tho Noodle at the My Tho morning market was an unforgettable experience. My Tho is a transit tourist city to Can Tho located along the Mekong River, giving the surroundings a charming riverside lifestyle. Due to its location in Tien Giang Province surrounded by rivers and small canals, fresh ingredients are easily and quickly delivered for cooking.

Flavor and Ingredients of My Tho Noodle

The My Tho Noodle I ate was dry, thin, and chewy noodles, unlike any dry noodles I’ve had elsewhere because here they add a lot of toppings, including crispy dried shrimp, bite-sized pork pieces, clean pork offal, fresh vegetables, and crunchy bean sprouts. Everything blends perfectly with a slightly salty and sweet taste, so delicious that I almost couldn’t put down my spoon.

What I liked most was the seemingly simple but actually meticulous preparation. The sellers here seem like true professionals because the My Tho Noodle shop has been open for a long time and has many regular customers. While eating noodles and watching the people of My Tho, I felt like I became part of this community. This is the charm of local eating, which is not just about food but about culture and local life.

Lifestyle and Atmosphere Around My Tho City

After enjoying My Tho Noodle, I also took a walk inMy Tho Morning Marketwhich is not crowded like typical tourist markets. This is a real local market with smiling, cheerful people and full of fresh produce, fruits, and seafood from the Mekong River flowing through. Although this city is a transit hub, it still strongly preserves the charm of the locals’ hometown.

If you visit in the evening, I, mr.hotsia, recommend walking along the Mekong River near the monument in My Tho City, where at night there are stalls selling fragrant fried corn and hot fried meatballs popular among locals. The riverside atmosphere at night is lively with laughter and karaoke singing from passing motorcycles. The people of My Tho often gather here to eat fried corn, fried meatballs, and enjoy singing requests in a fun and warm setting, a colorful and heartwarming life scene.

Travel and Connectivity in Tien Giang Province

For travelers planning to visit My Tho, getting here is easy because the city hasMy Tho Bus Stationlocated about 3 kilometers from the city center, with affordable motorcycle taxi services. You can also easily connect to other important cities in the Mekong Delta region, such as Can Tho or Ho Chi Minh City.

Tien Giang Province overall is politically and culturally important in the Mekong Delta. With its location by the sea and the Mekong River, it has a large suspension bridge connecting to Ben Tre Province, making travel and transport more convenient. I personally enjoy watchingthe Mekong River sunset in My Thobecause it is a beautiful and peaceful time, seeing the golden light reflecting on the suspension bridge is a memorable sight.

Summary of mr.hotsia’s Impressions of My Tho City

If you love food and learning about local culture, My Tho Noodle in My Tho City will not disappoint. The food is delicious, affordable, the atmosphere is great, and the lifestyle is fascinating to study. Every time I, mr.hotsia, sat eating the dry noodles with generous toppings here, I felt like I truly entered the life of the locals.

There are also other interesting foods such as fried corn and fried meatballs by the river at night, filled with warmth and karaoke music that delights both locals and tourists alike.
