Hotels in Tuyên Quang Province: Real Experiences from mr.hotsia
When talking aboutTuyên Quangmany might not be very familiar, but for me, mr.hotsia, who has traveled to explore the capital city of this province, I must say Tuyên Quang is an interesting destination with its own unique charm.
I had the opportunity to stay in Tuyên Quang city for three nights, from April 29 to May 1, 2015, choosing to stay atVan Tue HotelThis hotel is located in the city center, convenient for travel, close to the morning market and many local restaurants. Importantly, the room rate that night was about 600 baht, which is considered cheap and very good value compared to hotel standards in northern Vietnam.
Although it rained occasionally during my stay, the hotel staff took special care. From my conversations and experience using their services, I ordered food from nearby eateries to be delivered to my room conveniently without having to go out in the rain. Additionally, next to the hotel there is a smoothie and fresh coffee shop that I highly recommend for its great taste, perfect for recharging after a tiring day of sightseeing.
Why choose to stay at Van Tue Hotel?
In Tuyên Quang city, hotels with clear price tags and no price gouging impressed me a lot. Although I experienced a slight price increase between check-in and check-out, overall Van Tue Hotel is the best choice at this price. Besides cleanliness and comfort, the staff are friendly and very helpful.
I remember that room 406 where I stayed was quite quiet despite being in the city center and had all basic amenities, suitable for travelers who want to truly experience local life.
Atmosphere of Tuyên Quang city and nearby restaurants
From Van Tue Hotel, it’s not far to reachTuyên Quang Morning MarketThis market is located next to the Lo River, a tributary of the Red River. The market is medium-sized, neither too small nor too large, selling a variety of goods including fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, and local foods. I enjoy strolling through this market in the morning because besides seeing the daily life of locals, I can also taste various local dishes such as pigeon rice porridge, steamed rice dumplings, and the famous boiled snails of this city.
For food in Tuyên Quang, I recommend trying the boiled snails sold at almost every street vendor for about 60 baht per plate, which is cheap and very delicious. There is also Pho and northern Vietnamese-style noodles with strong flavors. Another interesting dish is the coconut bird egg, which is not commonly found elsewhere.
If you want to drink fresh beer, I recommend visiting a local beer shop. Here they sell Bia Hoi, Vietnamese draft beer, at 10 baht per glass. It has a slightly sweet taste, easy to drink, not bitter, perfect for chilling after a whole day of sightseeing. Importantly, the beer snacks here like boiled beef tendon and fresh nem are so delicious you’ll want to eat them repeatedly. Read detailed stories aboutVietnamese Draft Beerin my article.
Personal Experiences with Travel and Accommodation
I remember once after walking around the morning market, I accidentally left my laptop bag at a food stall, but luckily when I went back to look for it, the staff kept it safely. This shows the kindness of the people in this city that impressed me deeply.
When I arrived, the weather in Tuyên Quang was quite hot with occasional rain, but it didn’t disrupt my trip much. I mostly ate at street food stalls near the morning market. Lunch was usually at roadside food shops with affordable prices and decent taste. For dinner, I often went to a fresh beer shop with a nice atmosphere, and if I wanted other food, I could order from nearby restaurants.
