Vietnamese Girl Selling Banh Mi: A Flavor That Travels Through Time

When it comes to outstanding and widely recognized Vietnamese food, “Banh Mi” is one of the first that comes to my mind. On one occasion, I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to travel to Vinh Yen city, Vinh Phuc province, Vietnam, where I experienced meeting a Vietnamese girl selling Banh Mi on the street. The charm was not only in the crispy outside and soft inside bread but also in the lifestyle story I felt through talking and eating Banh Mi with her.

Vietnamese Banh Mi is a French-style bread perfectly adapted with local ingredients. The bread is crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside. Fillings range from grilled pork, sausages, grilled fish, squid, to fresh vegetables and various seasonings, making Banh Mi a quick meal that satisfies both hunger and taste at an affordable price.

Banh Mi in Vinh Yen: A Hub of Lifestyle and Flavor

Vinh Yen is a small city that still preserves the simplicity and traditional lifestyle of northern Vietnam well. Although it is not a popular tourist province like Da Lat or Nha Trang, it has a unique charm that I, mr.hotsia, deeply experienced during my trip.

The Vietnamese girl selling Banh Mi whom I met made the Banh Mi with her own hands, from baking the bread to assembling the fillings. Her dedication and meticulousness are evident in the taste of each Banh Mi. I remember she chose fresh ingredients from a nearby market, a local market I have written about in several articles, such as inLang Son Province, Vietnamwhere the fresh market is surrounded by quality ingredients at affordable prices.

Eating Banh Mi while chatting with her reminded me of the connection between food and the culture of this small community. Though not a big city, it is full of vitality and sincerity, similar to what I experienced at the morning market in Viet Tri city.Viet Tri Morning Marketwhich is a market I enjoy strolling through to truly experience the local atmosphere.

Travel and Lifestyle with Street Food

For a traveler like me, mr.hotsia, trying street food is a way to open new experiences that cannot be found in fancy restaurants. The Banh Mi from this Vietnamese girl is no exception. I clearly saw her love for what she does and pride in the flavors she delivers to her customers.

The atmosphere of this street Banh Mi stall is friendly. Most customers are locals passing by and stopping to buy continuously. This reflects the popularity of Banh Mi in the daily life of Vietnamese people, which differs from the image we often see in large Vietnamese restaurants in big cities.

Besides Banh Mi, Vietnam also has many other interesting local dishes, such as grilled button squid that I tasted in the video titledVietnamese Grilled Button Squidor Vietnamese chicken biryani with a rich flavor typical of Vietnam, which I recorded inVietnamese Chicken Biryani Videoall of which showcase the diversity of street food in Vietnam.

Connecting Experiences with Traveling Across Vietnam

Banh Mi in Vinh Yen may seem like a small detail in the overall travel experience, but for me, it is one of the small points that make traveling in Vietnam complete. When talking about traveling in northern Vietnam, I, mr.hotsia, think of Lang Son province with its beautiful landscapes and many interesting cultures.Lang Son Province, Vietnamis another destination I recommend trying to experience.

If you like nature and temples, I suggest stopping byBuddhist Temples in Da Latwhich offer a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere. Additionally, Da Lat city has many interesting local foods and desserts.
