Binh Dinh: A Coastal City with Hidden Charms and Stories in Vietnam

I, mr.hotsia, recently had the opportunity to travel toBinh Dinh Province(Binh Dinh), one of the central coastal provinces of Vietnam that many may not be very familiar with. But for those who enjoy adventurous travel, authentic local life, and fresh seafood, Binh Dinh is a very interesting destination.

From my experience, Binh Dinh is a province with diverse natural features, including long beautiful beaches, clear seas, and steep mountains that offer a different atmosphere from other provinces I have visited in Vietnam, such as Lang Son Province. As I have shared before, which is a northern province mostly mountainous, Binh Dinh gives a feeling of a perfect blend of sea and mountains.

Routes and Travel in Binh Dinh

Traveling to Binh Dinh is not as difficult as you might think. I chose to travel by bus from a nearby city and stopped to visit a local market along the way that had an atmosphere similar to morning markets in other Vietnamese cities, just like when I used the Vinh Long bus station.which is a major transfer point in the Mekong Delta region.Planning ahead allowed me to truly experience the routes and meet local people.

Upon arriving in Binh Dinh, I stayed in the main city where there are guesthouses and affordable hotels with good quality, suitable for backpackers and those who enjoy a simple atmosphere, convenient for traveling to beaches and local markets.

Seaside Life and Fresh Markets of Binh Dinh

A must-do when visiting Binh Dinh is walking through the fresh seaside market. Here, you will see fishermen bringing fresh seafood to sell, including large button squid, shrimp, shellfish, and various kinds of fish. I remember once trying hot grilled button squid at a seaside stall; the aroma of spices and the freshness of the seafood impressed me so much that I recorded it in a video.Vietnamese Grilled Button Squidthat I recorded.

Besides seafood, the markets in Binh Dinh are full of local dishes and seasonal fruits. I tried the local version of Vietnamese chicken biryani, which is different from other places in Vietnam. I recorded this eating experience inmy Vietnamese Chicken Biryani videothat I made myself.

Beautiful Beaches and Nature of Binh Dinh

Binh Dinh has beaches that remain natural and quieter than popular beaches like Nha Trang, which I have visited. Here, I took walks by the sea in the morning and evening, with clearly different atmospheres at each time. The white sandy beaches, clear sea water, and cool sea breeze made me feel relaxed and truly refreshed.

Additionally, I met locals who still use traditional fishing methods such as setting nets and using small boats to paddle out to sea in the morning. It was an impressive sight that is rare to see in today’s world.

Culture and Attractions in Binh Dinh

Binh Dinh has many interesting historical and cultural sites, such as ancient temples and ruins of the Champa Kingdom, which I explored and learned about the cultural roots of central Vietnam, different from the north like Lang Son Province, or even visiting Buddhist temples not far from Dalat, which I have shared my experience about before. This adds more dimensions to the travel experience.

Binh Dinh is also known for its woodcraft and handwoven textiles, passed down through generations. I bought small handmade art souvenirs from the local market, supporting the community and preserving good memories from this trip.

Summary of Experience from mr.hotsia
