Sapa Salmon: The experience of tasting mountain salmon
When talking about northern Vietnam, many people think of hill tribe villages, lush mountain views, and cool, comfortable weather. But for me, Mr.Hotsia, tastingcá hồi sapaor Sapa salmon is one experience you should not miss. This place is not only known for its atmosphere and hill tribe lifestyle but also as a source of fresh food that excites food-loving travelers like me.
Sapa is a mountain tourist town in northern Vietnam. Although it is not a large province I have traveled to, such asLang Son ProvinceSapa stands out for its fresh fish, especially salmon farmed in mountain farms here. The salmon here is a unique find on my northern Vietnam trip because I am usually familiar with eating salmon in Japan or Europe. But eating salmon in a rural mountain setting is a completely different feeling.
Travel and atmosphere in Sapa
I started my journey from Lang Son city, a place I have often stayed and strolled around. You can read more details atLang Son Province, VietnamThe trip up to Sapa takes some time, but the winding mountain roads and light mist make the journey far from boring. Upon arrival in Sapa, I found a local market full of colorful fresh vegetables, fruits, and of course, fresh salmon caught by locals from nearby farms.
Most fresh fish here come from mountain farms with cold, pure water ideal for salmon farming. Unlike the deep-sea salmon I have eaten before, the salmon meat quality in Sapa is firm and naturally sweet, which is very impressive.
Sapa salmon dishes you must try
When it comes to eating salmon in Sapa, I, Mr.Hotsia, recommend trying a variety of dishes, whether grilled salmon marinated with local spices or fresh sashimi-style salmon that almost melts in your mouth. Another dish I was impressed with is boiled salmon dipped in a special chili sauce made by local hill tribes. The taste and aroma of the seasoning made me feel like I was eating premium food amidst pure nature.
Besides salmon dishes, Sapa is also famous for local food made from fresh ingredients, including native vegetables and herbs found locally. I also tried local dishes, which enriched my diverse and memorable eating experience.
Recommended accommodations and hill tribe lifestyle
For those who want to fully experience hill tribe life and nature, Sapa offers many guesthouses and homestays. I recommend staying at a hill tribe homestay to learn about authentic culture and lifestyle. It was an experience that made me feel closer to nature and allowed me to talk with very kind hosts.
Connecting experiences with other northern Vietnam trips
During my northern Vietnam trip, I also visited interesting places such asBuddhist Temple in Da Latwhich is another attractive destination not far from Sapa. And if anyone wants to continue traveling to other southern cities, they can also use theVinh Long Bus Stationwhich is an important transfer point.
For anyone planning a northern Vietnam trip, don't forget to experience eating Sapa salmon as recommended by Mr.Hotsia. Besides tasting fresh salmon, you will also experience the unique local lifestyle authentically.
