Hai Duong Province, Vietnam: Travel experience with mr.hotsia
For those who have followed mr.hotsia's work, you know I love to travel and discover new stories and flavors from perspectives often overlooked by most people. This time, I took myself toHai DuongHai Duong Province of Vietnam, which is not a large or famous tourist province like the main cities, but is full of charming local culture that is truly worth experiencing.
From my travel experience in nearby provinces such asLang Sonwhich has beautiful mountains and excellent local food, I intended to see what Hai Duong might offer that is different or similar. This trip I traveled by bus from Hanoi, taking about an hour and a half, which is very convenient and economical for those who like easy travel.
Lifestyle and Local Markets of Hai Duong
As soon as I stepped off the bus, I felt a difference from big cities. Less crowded but with warmth and friendliness from the people here. The morning market in Hai Duong is one of my favorite places because it shows the real lifestyle of locals buying fresh produce, fruits, local vegetables, and authentic Vietnamese food that is hard to find in big cities.
This market is not as large as the market inMukdahanThailand, but the quality of ingredients is just as good. I tried the grilled button squid here, which is like what I saw inthe Vietnamese grilled button squid eating show clipI must say the taste is fresh, sweet, and the aroma of spices is very strong. It is a must-try dish for seafood lovers like me.
Local Food and Flavors to Try
Besides grilled button squid, Hai Duong also has traditional Vietnamese dishes that I loved such asVietnamese Chicken Biryaniwhich is similar to what I tried in southern Vietnam, but here it has a unique spice aroma that makes it different and more memorable. If anyone is interested in the atmosphere and how it is made, you can watchthe Vietnamese chicken biryani clipwhich I really like.
I stopped to eat at a small roadside restaurant where the owner was very kind, chatting and exchanging travel stories and even recommending interesting places in this province. This is another charm of traveling with mr.hotsia, who loves meeting locals and learning about real lifestyles, not just beautiful places.
Nearby Attractions and Travel
If you have more time, I recommend planning to continue your trip from Hai Duong to Lang Son Province, which I wrote about previously,Lang Son Province, Vietnamwhich is not far away and has mountains, natural attractions, and several interesting temples. Traveling between these two provinces is convenient and a great opportunity to experience the regional differences of northern Vietnam through the eyes of a traveler like mr.hotsia.
For those interested in Buddhist temples in Vietnam, I also recommendBuddhist temples in Da Lat citywhich, although farther away, is another destination I visited and was very impressed by. The tranquility and beautiful architecture of Truc Lam Temple made me feel the cultural diversity of this country.
Travel Tips and Accommodation
For anyone planning to visit Hai Duong or nearby provinces, I recommend preparing a 3G internet SIM card. It helps with communication and information searching more conveniently.Vietnam 3G Internet SIMwhich I use myself and find very convenient and well-covered.
Accommodation in Hai Duong is mostly small guesthouses or budget hotels, but if you want a chill experience, I suggest checking out small hotels I stayed at in nearby cities likeViet Triwhich is charming and has a very friendly atmosphere, allowing you to experience authentic local life.
