Impressed by the Vietnamese Embroidery Show in Hoi An

During one of my trips, mr.hotsia, in Vietnam, I had the opportunity to visit Hoi An, a World Heritage city full of charm with its ancient and traditional culture. An unforgettable impression was watching the embroidery show by Vietnamese women here, which is a display of delicate and beautifully detailed hand embroidery beyond description.

Hoi An is not only known for its peaceful old town atmosphere but also as a hub of unique handicrafts. This embroidery show is held in shops or galleries located in the city center. Every stitch the Vietnamese women sew on the fabric reveals deep stories and dedication. Some patterns tell the stories of the townspeople, while others reflect nature and local culture passed down through generations.

I watched the embroidery closely, almost holding my breath. The meticulous choice of brightly colored threads combined with sharp lines brings the embroidery to life in an incredible way. Besides being an art form, it is also a commendable preservation of local wisdom.

When I spoke with several Vietnamese women embroiderers, they said this work is not just for sale but also a transmission of the spirit and pride of Hoi An people. For me, mr.hotsia, this is the true heart of travel — to deeply experience the way of life and the meaning behind what we see.

Hoi An: The Old Town Connecting Past and Present

Hoi An is located not far from Da Nang city. It was once an important trading port. I, mr.hotsia, have traveled through many cities in Vietnam such asLang Son Provincewhich has distinctly different nature and lifestyles. But Hoi An stands out with its ancient charm and beautifully preserved architecture.

Strolling through Hoi An in the evening, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the walking street filled with red lantern lights and local handicraft shops, as well as riverside restaurants serving authentic Vietnamese food — perfect for experiencing culture and tasting the true flavors of Vietnam.

A Unique Embroidery Experience

Embroidery in Hoi An differs from handicrafts in other parts of Vietnam, such as those I have seen inBuddhist temples in Da Lat cityor even local markets in other provinces. The embroidery here emphasizes beautiful patterns and more complex stitching techniques, especially the use of striking colors and meticulous detail in every stitch.

I also recorded a short video capturing the beauty of this embroidery show, which can be viewed atImpressed by the Vietnamese Embroidery Show in Hoi AnIf anyone is interested in Vietnamese art and handicrafts, I recommend experiencing it firsthand in Hoi An.

Connecting Travel and Culture

Traveling to Hoi An for me, mr.hotsia, is another experience that invites reflection on the beauty of local art and culture. Vietnam has diverse geography and cultures, as I have experienced inVinh Long bus stationor the beach atmosphere atNha Trang sea beacheach place with its own unique charm.

But Hoi An stands out with its perfect blend of past and present. The embroidery show by Vietnamese women is not just an art performance but also a symbol of preserving and passing on a long-valued culture.
