Hoi An Night is Beautiful: A Tangible Beauty with mr.hotsia
When talking about a city full of Vietnam's charm and beautiful at night, “Hoi An” is one of the top recommendations I, mr.hotsia, want everyone to experience for themselves. I must say, the feeling of walking through small alleys paved with ancient stones, contrasted by the soft yellow lantern light hanging all along the streets, is not just a beautiful postcard image but a feeling that makes your heart pause for a moment, as if stepping into a living past.
I arrived in Hoi An in the evening after spending some time exploring Lang Son Province (if anyone is interested in detailed northern Vietnam travel, you can read my story atLang Son Province, Vietnam). Coming to Hoi An felt different because it is not as hectic as big cities but full of old-town charm that preserves its original identity very well.
A Unique Nighttime Atmosphere
At night, Hoi An is filled with colorful paper lantern lights hung throughout the town. This atmosphere reminded me of old markets I walked through in southern Vietnam, but here it is much more romantic and warm. I enjoyed strolling along small streets lined with ancient wooden houses and cute souvenir shops all the way.
Especially when walking past the ancient river flowing through the city center, I saw small boats decorated with lights floating gently. The tranquility and the lantern light made the scene look like a living painting. My feeling at that moment was, “This is Hoi An at night, truly beautiful.”
Street Food and Night Market
Not only is the atmosphere enchanting, but the street food in Hoi An is another thing I, mr.hotsia, highly recommend. I tried the “Grilled Button Squid” which was rich in flavor and very fresh (seafood lovers should not miss it. Watch my video eating grilled squid here atGrilled Vietnamese Button Squid)
). There is also a night market that fills the entire pedestrian street with food, souvenirs, and local handicrafts to enjoy shopping. I usually walk this market every night before returning to my accommodation because it offers a genuine experience of Hoi An life and fun conversations with local vendors.
Travel and Accommodation in Hoi An
Getting to Hoi An is not difficult. I traveled from Da Lat city, which has a beautiful Buddhist temple as a stopover (if you want to read about Buddhist temples in Da Lat, check outBuddhist Temples in Da Lat). Hoi An is suitable for those who enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and want to escape the hustle of big cities.
For accommodation, I chose a small hostel that offers a warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s not luxurious but comfortable, just a few minutes’ walk to the pedestrian street and river, allowing me to truly experience the essence of Hoi An.
Connecting Your Journey in Vietnam
If you plan to continue traveling in northern Vietnam or want to explore other cities like I did, such as Vinh Long bus station, a key transport hub in the Mekong Delta (Vinh Long Bus Station), or want to relax by the beautiful sea at Nha Trang, which I have shared about inNha Trang Sea Beach, Hoi An will be a destination that completes your travel experience perfectly.
