Hoi An Shave - Beard Shaving in the World Heritage City of Hoi An

When talking about Hoi An, a World Heritage city full of charm with ancient Vietnamese architecture and lifestyle, many might think of the vibrant lantern-lit walking street or a boat ride on the Thu Bon River. But for me, mr.hotsia, experiencing a shave at a small hidden barbershop in a narrow alley of this town became a memorable moment.

I traveled to Hoi An after leaving Lang Son Province, which I have shared in another article.Lang Son Province, VietnamThe journey from Lang Son to Hoi An was not easy, requiring several transfers before arriving at this peaceful town full of historical traces. But once there, it felt like stepping into another world.

That day, I strolled through the old quarter of Hoi An, paved with old cobblestones and lined with many small street shops. I was drawn to a small barbershop that looked like a traditional hair salon called “Hoi An Shave,” which seemed popular among locals and tourists seeking an authentic experience.

Shaving here is not just about trimming facial hair; it is an art and ritual of the Vietnamese people. The skilled barber’s razor handle, combined with essential oils that leave the skin smooth and refreshed, made the experience special. The barber spoke to me in a friendly tone, sharing stories about the lifestyle and history of Hoi An.

Sitting in this small shop, I felt as if time stopped. The barber used expertise and care in every precise stroke. The cooling sensation from the essential oils and attentive care made me forget the fatigue from the long journey.

After the shave, I chatted with the barber about tourism in Hoi An. He recommended local dishes not to miss, such as Banh Bao Vac (white rose dumplings) and delicious grilled button squid, which I recorded in my video.Vietnamese Grilled Button SquidRecorded by me

Besides the shaving experience, Hoi An is also a convenient base for traveling to other central Vietnam attractions. If you are interested in nature or cultural tourism, I recommend checking outBuddhist Temples in Da Latwhich I have visited on the other side of the country and found uniquely charming.

Visiting Hoi An made me feel the blend of antiquity and simplicity in local life. This place lacks the hustle of big cities like Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi. Everything slows down here with a charm that makes me want to return.

For anyone planning to travel to central Vietnam, don’t forget to give yourself time to try this shaving experience atHoi An ShaveIt is more than grooming; it is truly understanding the local lifestyle and culture.

Finally, if you are interested in more travel stories about Vietnam, whether about journeys, food, or accommodation, I, mr.hotsia, recommend reading my other articles such as traveling throughVinh Long Bus Stationor relaxing by the beach atNha Trang Sea Beachwhich I have fully shared my experiences.

I hope this story shows everyone another side of Hoi An—not just a tourist city but one full of life and warmth in the small details often overlooked. Wishing everyone a fun and happy journey.
