Disappointed by a Bloody Shave in Hoi An – A True Experience from mr.hotsia

Hoi An, a small town full of the charm of Central Vietnam, is known for its well-preserved ancient town and romantic atmosphere that anyone would want to visit. But this time, mr.hotsia has a strange experience to share about shaving in Hoi An, unlike anywhere else in the world I have ever encountered.

When I arrived in Hoi An, after strolling through the ancient town filled with old houses and various shops, I decided to find a traditional barber to get an authentic Vietnamese experience. Many people recommended that shaving here would offer a unique cultural scent and a memorable experience.

I walked through narrow alleys until I found a small barbershop. The storefront looked old but had customers coming in and out regularly. The barber was a Vietnamese man around 50 years old, with a smiling face and friendly demeanor. I immediately decided to sit down.

The first step was washing my face and preparing the skin. The barber used a hot towel on my face to open the pores and applied foam with an ancient herbal scent. This scent reminded me of my travels through several provinces in Northern and Central Vietnam. The herbal aroma made me think of the atmosphere I had experienced inLang Son Provincewhich has fresh herbal markets and a city full of spice aromas.

But then the unexpected happened. When the barber used a sharp but old razor to carefully glide over my skin, suddenly I felt a sting and saw a little blood coming from the right cheek area. The barber quickly took a clean cloth to dab it and apologized gently. I tried to stay calm and thought this must be an experience to remember on this trip.

This incident made me think about the difference between services in big cities and small towns that still preserve traditional lifestyles. Although it may seem outdated, it is full of charm that is hard to find elsewhere. If you want to experience something like this, even though it’s a bit risky, it adds color to my journey.

After the bloody shave incident, I continued to stroll around Hoi An, enjoying the peacefulness and charm of the old market filled with local food stalls and souvenir shops. Despite the unexpected event, Hoi An remains a city I would recommend visiting at least once in a lifetime.

For travelers who love to experience real lifestyles and are not afraid of unusual experiences, Hoi An has much to explore, whether it’s taking a boat ride on the Thu Bon River, tasting local dishes, or visiting old-style Vietnamese toilets still found in the ancient town.

If you have more time, don’t forget to visit other tourist spots in Vietnam that mr.hotsia has been to, such asNha Trang SeaOr if you want to experience Buddhist temples with a deeply peaceful atmosphere, try reading my article aboutBuddhist Temples in Da Latwhere I have collected photos and stories to share.

Another recommendation for those traveling in Vietnam is to prepare a local internet SIM card for easier communication. I personally usedVietnam 3G Internet SIMwhich helped make my trip smooth and allowed me to quickly find information.

Finally, although the experience of a bloody shave in Hoi An was unexpected, it is one of the memories that made this mr.hotsia trip special and unforgettable. For those who enjoy deep travel and are open to all kinds of stories, try visiting Hoi An once, and you will realize that Vietnam has much more to discover beyond just typical tourist spots.
