Khanh Hoa, a province I recently discovered in Vietnam

Hello, I am mr.hotsia. Today, I will take you to experience Khanh Hoa Province, in southern Vietnam, which many people may know through the city of Nha Trang, a world-famous coastal city. But for me, Khanh Hoa is not just about beautiful beaches; it also has stories, lifestyles, and food that impressed me enough to share.

Arriving in Khanh Hoa: First Impressions from Cam Ranh Airport

I arrived at Cam Ranh Airport, the main airport of Khanh Hoa Province. When I arrived, it was summer here. The weather was hot and humid but not as harsh as in Lang Son, which I had visited earlier (if interested, you can read about my experience in Lang Son Province atLang Son Province, Vietnam). After collecting my luggage, I took a taxi to Nha Trang city, which took about 40 minutes. The coastal road here is very beautiful, with tourists both foreigners and Vietnamese strolling along the beach.

Nha Trang Beach, a place I must return to

Nha Trang is a tourist city famous for its clean beaches and clear blue sea. I walked along the beach, enjoying the view and the sound of waves crashing ashore, feeling a peacefulness different from big cities. I stopped by the amusement park and Diamond Bay, a leisure spot with both a water park and amusement park combined. Another highlight I didn’t miss was riding the Vinpearl Cable Car across to Hon Tre Island, also known as Bamboo Island, which has resorts and private beaches. The sea breeze and the view from the cable car made me feel that every minute of this trip was worthwhile.

If anyone is interested in detailed information about Nha Trang sea, I have written about it in the articleNha Trang Sea Beachas well.

Fresh Seafood and Coastal Lifestyle in Khanh Hoa

What impressed me about Khanh Hoa was the seafood. Here, it’s not only fresh but also more affordable than expected. I tried grilled button squid at a small roadside stall. The large squid was grilled to a fragrant perfection and eaten with a special local dipping sauce, delivering a spicy flavor typical of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. You can watch my grilled button squid video atVietnamese Grilled Button Squidto get a clearer picture.

Additionally, I tried Vietnamese-style chicken biryani, which is completely different from what we have at home. The fragrant spices and tender chicken made my meal here unforgettable. Watch my Vietnamese chicken biryani video atVietnamese Chicken Biryani

Morning Market and Local Life in Khanh Hoa

One morning, I woke up early to visit the morning market in Nha Trang city. This market was bustling and full of a variety of local products, including fresh vegetables, fruits, seafood, and dried goods. I talked with a local vendor selling fresh spring rolls, a popular snack here. The taste was not too sweet and very fresh, making me feel like I truly absorbed the real lifestyle of the locals.

The morning market in Khanh Hoa feels similar to morning markets I have seen in other provinces of Vietnam, such as Mukdahan morning market, which I have written about inMukdahan Morning Marketwhich is also full of color and vibrancy.

Transportation and Accommodation in Khanh Hoa

Getting around Khanh Hoa is quite convenient because there are taxis and motorbikes for rent. Prices are not very expensive. However, I recommend preparing a 3G or 4G internet SIM card because it greatly helps with communication and finding information during travel (if interested in internet SIM cards in Vietnam, check outVietnam 3G Internet SIM)

). Regarding accommodation, I mostly stayed in Nha Trang city, where there are both luxurious hotels and small guesthouses at affordable prices, suitable for travelers like me who focus on budget and want to experience the local atmosphere authentically.

Connecting to Other Provinces in Southern Vietnam

After spending several days in Khanh Hoa, I had the opportunity to travel to other provinces in southern Vietnam, such as Vinh Long Province, which has a large bus station and serves as a transfer point to many important provinces (if interested in this route, you can read about my experience atVinh Long Bus Station)

Summary of mr.hotsia’s Impressions of Khanh Hoa

Khanh Hoa is not just a beautiful coastal city but is also full of culture, lifestyle, and diverse food, making me feel like I experienced Vietnam from a deeper and more genuine perspective than I had imagined. If you are planning to travel to southern Vietnam, don’t forget to give Khanh Hoa a chance to be one of your must-visit destinations, as it will surely make you fall in love with Vietnam even more.
