At one point, I, mr.hotsia, traveled from Ho Chi Minh City heading to Thu Dau Mot, the capital city of Binh Duong province. It is located about 31 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City. Traveling by bus from Ho Chi Minh's Northern Bus Station to Thu Dau Mot is convenient and comfortable. Although this city is not a popular destination for foreign tourists, it has a charm that I want to share through my own experience.
As soon as I got off the bus at Thu Dau Mot bus station, the atmosphere I found was the simplicity of a small town with low hills and lush banana groves scattered within the community. Most locals still live a rural lifestyle, raising chickens, growing vegetables, and trading in the local market near the bus station, which is adjacent to the Co.op Mart in the city center. I chose to stay in an affordable accommodation surrounded by banana groves to truly experience the peaceful atmosphere and local way of life.
The local noodle flavors that mr.hotsia had to try
I followed the fragrant aroma until I found a small noodle shop run by a cheerful elderly woman. She told me that Thu Dau Mot is on the route connecting to the Central Highlands of Vietnam, which allows ingredients from both mountains and plains to blend perfectly in the food. After tasting the noodles, I felt that this shop is one of the city's hidden secrets not yet widely revealed.
Walking around Thu Dau Mot and daily life
During my stay here, I chose to walk through the alleys in the city center. I found that Thu Dau Mot is less hectic than Ho Chi Minh City but offers a moderate level of convenience. There is a Co.op Mart in the city center that serves as a community hub. Locals often come to buy fresh produce and daily necessities, including the fresh market near the bus station filled with fresh vegetables, fruits, and interesting local foods.
I also met locals who shared and exchanged stories about culture and lifestyle, including their livelihoods in a city that blends modernity and tradition harmoniously. The small hills here give the scenery dimension, and the weather is cooler and more comfortable than in big cities like Ho Chi Minh, while not being too quiet.
Connections with other provinces in Vietnam
