Drink fresh coconut water at Đồng Hới, Quảng Bình Province, Vietnam
I, mr.hotsia, just had the chance to arrive at the cityĐồng HớiA small coastal town in Quảng Bình Province, Vietnam. This place is not only famous for beautiful caves like Phong Nha Cave or Paradise Cave, but one thing I was impressed with and want to share is the “fresh coconut water” sold on almost every street corner.
Arriving early in the morning, I saw local vendors peeling fresh coconuts and opening them to serve refreshing cold coconut water that was cut from the tree just a few hours ago. The coconut water here is sweeter and more fragrant than what I have tried in many cities in northern or southern Vietnam. Most importantly, the freshness and strong coconut aroma are very noticeable. I noticed that most coconut water stalls are located along main roads, near markets, or at rest stops for tourists and locals.
For me, coconut water is not just a thirst quencher but has become part of the local lifestyle. When walking around markets or streets in Đồng Hới, I always look for a coconut water cart first. The coconut water here is served in real coconuts with thin plastic straws, giving a full natural experience.
Lifestyle and Atmosphere Around the Markets in Đồng Hới
After refreshing myself with coconut water, I continued to the local market in Đồng Hới. Here, the atmosphere blends simplicity and liveliness perfectly. The market offers fresh produce, local fruits and vegetables, seafood, and small handicrafts. I tried several Vietnamese dishes here, including chicken biryani and grilled button squid with herbal aroma, experiencing the freshness of the ingredients.
One thing that comes to mind when thinking about traveling in northern Vietnam is the atmosphere in Lạng Sơn Province, which I have described in an article.Lạng Sơn Province, Vietnamwhich has a lively market and interesting local food as well. But in Đồng Hới, the focus is more on seafood and fresh coastal products.
Travel and Relaxation in Đồng Hới
Traveling to Đồng Hới is convenient with the city’s airport and roads connecting to major cities in northern and southern Vietnam, including a railway passing through the province. For me, traveling in Vietnam usually requires careful accommodation choices because some cities may have limited hotels or large hotels may not offer privacy and local atmosphere.
If you are interested in small, charming accommodations like those I stayed at in other Vietnamese cities, such asRecommended Hotels in Việt Trì Citywhich have a warm atmosphere and friendly owners, I suggest looking for similar guest houses in Đồng Hới because it helps you truly experience the local lifestyle.
The Refreshing Taste of Coconut Water and Memories in the Coastal Town
Among local drinks I have tried in Vietnam, the coconut water in Đồng Hới has a unique charm I don’t want to miss. Every time I sip it, I think of the simple life by the Vietnamese coast and people who still live at a relaxed pace.
For those who enjoy traveling by eating and drinking at markets and roadside stalls, coconut water in Đồng Hới is a perfect choice. If you want to change the atmosphere from big cities, I recommend stopping by to experience the lifestyle and local drink flavors here. I guarantee you will be as captivated as I am, mr.hotsia.
