Qui Nhon Beach Vietnam, Binh Dinh Province
I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to visit Qui Nhon city, located in Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam. This was my first time experiencing the beach here, and I must say I was much more impressed than I expected. This city is not very well known among foreign tourists, but if you like a peaceful sea with a truly natural atmosphere and want to escape the hustle and bustle of big cities, Qui Nhon Beach is the answer.
I arrived here at the end of April. The weather was starting to get hot and humid, but the sea breeze made it feel cool and comfortable, unlike the heat I experienced in northern Vietnam, such as in Lang Son Province.Lang Son Province, VietnamLang Son has high mountains and hot, humid summers, but Qui Nhon felt different — hot but not stifling. This may be due to the sea breeze and the wide open bay.
Beach Atmosphere and Coastal Lifestyle
Qui Nhon Beach has a long stretch of clean white sand that is fine and soft underfoot. I enjoyed walking along the beach in the early morning when it was quiet. There aren’t many tourists here compared to Nha Trang sea beach.Nha Trang Sea BeachMost people here are local fishermen who go out to fish. The atmosphere is simple and very friendly. I had the chance to talk with local fishermen who told me that this beach has maintained its natural state well because it hasn’t been developed into large resorts like other cities.
In the evening, I walked to the fresh market near the small pier by the beach. There was a variety of fresh seafood including shrimp, shellfish, crabs, fish, and squid caught that day. I didn’t miss trying the grilled button squid which was sweet and tender, followed by Vietnamese chicken biryani from a market-side stall. The prices were very reasonable. The seafood here is truly fresh and tastes unlike anywhere else in Vietnam that I have tried.
Travel and Relaxation in Qui Nhon City
Getting to Qui Nhon city is not difficult. I chose to fly into Phu Cat Airport, which is not far from the city center. Then I rented a motorbike to ride along the beaches and tourist spots around the city. Driving in Vietnam requires caution and focus because there are many cars and motorbikes, but the charm of riding a motorbike here is the close experience of local roadside life.
Accommodation in Qui Nhon ranges from small guesthouses to mid-range hotels at affordable nightly rates. I stayed at a guesthouse near the beach run by a local owner who took great care. It had hot water and free internet, perfect for those who want to experience a truly homey atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Connections to Travel in Southern and Northern Vietnam
If you have enough time, I recommend continuing your journey from Qui Nhon to other cities in Vietnam, such as heading south to Nha Trang,Nha Trang Seawhich has beautiful beaches and many resorts. Or if you want a change of scenery to the north, try stopping by Lang Son Province,Lang Son Province, Vietnamwhich features high mountains and completely different natural views. Traveling between these provinces will give you a broader picture of Vietnam’s diversity — sea, mountains, and the lifestyles of local people in each area.
