Mr. Hotsia takes you to enjoy Yunnan Chinese cuisine at Doi Pha Tang before traveling to Vietnam

Hello, I am mr.hotsia. Today, I will take you to experience the deliciousness of authentic Yunnan Chinese cuisine on Doi Pha Tang, which is the final destination before crossing into Vietnam on this trip. Doi Pha Tang is located on the border between Thailand and Vietnam. This area is an interesting cultural connection point because we get to experience the authentic flavors of Yunnan Chinese food, which is hard to find in Thailand, and it is also convenient to travel onward to various provinces in Vietnam.

My journey began with a morning ascent to Doi Pha Tang when the weather was still cool and pleasant. Anyone who loves mountain atmospheres and cool breezes will definitely enjoy this place. Before reaching the summit, I stopped to taste Yunnan Chinese food at a restaurant owned by a genuine Yunnan Chinese family. The flavors here are bold and rich in the traditional style, whether it’s the braised pork leg with Chinese herbs that melts in your mouth or the clear broth noodle soup with the fragrant aroma of Yunnan spices. It made me feel like I was back dining in Kunming city.

Yunnan Chinese cuisine at Doi Pha Tang has a distinctive character, focusing on fresh ingredients and the use of Chinese herbs in various dishes. I tried fresh shiitake mushrooms just picked from nearby forests, simply prepared with sesame oil and dried chili. The taste was mellow and very unique. There was also Yunnan-style sticky rice cooked with pork leg, served with homemade pickled vegetables made from local ingredients, making that meal truly joyful and satisfying.

After enjoying the delicious food to fullness, I had the chance to stroll around the area of Doi Pha Tang, which is filled with hill tribe villages and well-preserved nature. The locals here still live simply and warmly. I exchanged experiences with the local people, feeling the friendliness and the harmonious blend of Yunnan Chinese and Thai cultures.

From Doi Pha Tang, I traveled into Vietnam with excitement and readiness to discover new experiences in this neighboring land. My next destination was Lang Son province, a border province important for trade and culture. I planned to stay at Hoang Son Hotel, located in the center of Lang Son city, conveniently within walking distance to the fresh market and various tourist attractions.Lang Son Province, VietnamThis province features beautiful mountains and cool weather during the rainy season when I traveled there.

The market in Lang Son city is a fascinating collection of local foods and ingredients. I tasted the local specialty roasted duck with crispy skin and tender meat, a unique flavor unlike anywhere else. I also tried several traditional Vietnamese dishes such as nem nuong and freshly made banh cuon. The night market here is another experience I really enjoyed because of its lively atmosphere and numerous street food stalls offering almost everything to try.

For those interested in temples and religion, northern Vietnam has many interesting places such as Truc Lam Temple in Dalat city, which I have written about in an article.Buddhist Temple in Dalat CityThis is a Zen Buddhist temple located on a high mountain with a beautiful lake view, perfect for making merit and enjoying nature at the same time.

After a fulfilling time in Lang Son, I continued to Vinh Long bus station, an important transport hub in southern Vietnam. It connects travel routes to various cities including Sa Dec and Chau Doc, which are significant in trade routes between Vietnam and Cambodia.Vinh Long Bus StationThis is a station I frequently used on this trip. For those interested in the sea, Vietnam has beautiful beaches like Nha Trang sea beach, where I have experienced the atmosphere.Nha Trang Sea BeachIt is perfect for sea lovers and beach activities.

This trip combined the deliciousness of Yunnan Chinese cuisine on Doi Pha Tang with the cultural diversity and scenic views of northern and central Vietnam perfectly.
