Jungle Cruise from the Mekong Delta in Vietnam: A Real Experience by mr.hotsia

When talking about the Mekong Delta, many people probably imagine vast rice fields and villagers living along the banks of this important river. But for me, mr.hotsia, taking a boat into the jungle and small communities in this part of Vietnam was a new experience filled with the true essence of nature and local culture.

The Mekong Delta in Vietnam is not as famous as the Cambodian or Laotian sides, but the beauty and tranquility here are something I want to share. Cruising through small canals covered by tall trees and water reflections against the sky is an image I will remember for a long time.

Starting the Journey to the Jungle and Riverside Communities of the Mekong

I spent time traveling from Lang Son city, a province near the Chinese border (for more details about this province, you can readLang Son Province, Vietnam) to the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, full of nature and the simple lifestyle of local villagers.

Here, I found a long-tail boat that took us cruising along the Mekong River and its tributaries. Both sides were filled with dense trees and floating aquatic plants. The locals live by traditional fishing and farming, some also raising fish in cages. I had the chance to talk with elders who warmly shared stories about life and changes in this area.

Impressive Atmosphere and Lifestyle Along the Mekong River

The canals we cruised had houses built on tall wooden stilts to protect against flooding. Most locals use boats as their main transportation and for carrying goods. I saw a small floating market where villagers sold fresh fruit juices, vegetables, and local foods in a friendly manner. This is a rare sight in today’s fast-paced world.

The riverside food I tasted included freshly grilled fish and boiled vegetables dipped in a delicious sauce. The flavors here are clearly different from the big cities in Vietnam I have visited, as they are full of freshness and the true scent of nature.

Connecting with Travels in Northern and Southern Vietnam

If you are interested in Northern Vietnam, I recommend reading about my experience inLang Son Provincewhich has high mountains and interesting temples. For those who love the sea and beaches, I have also experienced the atmosphere ofNha Trang Seaa famous coastal tourist city in Southern Vietnam.

The jungle cruise in the Mekong Delta is another destination I invite everyone to experience the beauty of nature and the authentic rural lifestyle preserved so well.

Travel Tips

For those interested in jungle cruising in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, I recommend preparing your trip in advance because this area is still not very developed. Contacting locals and local guides will help make your journey smoother and safer.

Also, preparing appropriate clothing for the weather and insects, as well as drinking water and essential supplies, is very important because this area is pure nature and may lack many conveniences.
