In-depth travel experience in Tay Ninh, Vietnam with mr.hotsia

When talking about northern Vietnam, many people often think of Hanoi, Da Lat, or the coastal city of Nha Trang. But for me, mr.hotsia, this time I intentionally traveled to the provinceTay Ninhwhich is a destination that many may not be familiar with but is full of charm and incredibly fascinating stories.

I started the trip from Lang Son city, a province with terrain consisting of nearly 80% high mountains and hills, which I have previously described in an articleLang Son Province, VietnamI stayed at a small hotel in the city center, strolled through the local market, before heading to Tay Ninh by local bus that truly felt like a scenic countryside ride in Vietnam.

Atmosphere and Lifestyle in Tay Ninh

Tay Ninh is located near the Cambodian border but has a unique character that I felt from the very first step upon arrival. It is not as hectic as big cities but is full of lively fresh markets and people who still live simply. I explored local markets offering fresh vegetables, fruits, and local foods to taste, such as Vietnamese-style chicken biryani found at small roadside stalls, with a perfectly balanced spicy flavor and fragrant spices.

For seafood lovers, you must not miss trying the Vietnamese grilled button squid, which I have recommended in my video.Vietnamese Grilled Button SquidThe spicy flavor and smoky aroma truly touch the heart.

The Beauty of Temples and Religion in Tay Ninh

One of Tay Ninh’s highlights is visitingCao Dai Templewhich is a distinctive religious site with a unique identity. This temple is a center of a syncretic religion blending Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Taoism. I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to witness the rituals and experience the solemn yet peaceful atmosphere unlike anywhere else.

If you have read my article aboutBuddhist Temples in Da Latyou will know that I enjoy exploring temples with meaningful architecture. Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh is another temple worth experiencing—not only for its beautiful pagodas and vibrant colors but also to deeply learn about the lifestyle and beliefs of the Vietnamese people here.

Travel and Accessibility

To get to Tay Ninh, I took a bus from Ho Chi Minh City, which took about 4 hours. The buses here are comfortable and affordable. Within Tay Ninh city, you can easily use motorbike taxis or local taxis, but be cautious with communication as sometimes street names or destinations may be similar to other cities, as I experienced atVinh Long Bus Station

For accommodation in Tay Ninh, there are medium-sized hotels and budget guesthouses. I recommend choosing a place near the market or city center for convenience and to truly experience the local lifestyle.

Summary of mr.hotsia’s Experience in Tay Ninh

Tay Ninh may not be a popular destination for foreign tourists, but for me, traveling here opened a new world where I experienced the true rural Vietnamese lifestyle, delicious and diverse local food, colorful fresh markets, and the beautiful and meaningful Cao Dai Temple.

If you enjoy deep, unhurried travel and want a unique experience, I recommend visiting Tay Ninh once. You will understand that travel is not just about famous places.

For those interested in more northern Vietnam routes, I have also written about other places such asLang Son ProvinceandNha Trang Seawhich have distinctly different charms.
