Thai Binh Province, Vietnam: Travel experience with Mr.Hotsia
I, Mr.Hotsia, had the chance to travel toThai Binh Provincewhich is located in the northern region of Vietnam. It is a province that many may not be very familiar with, but for me, this place is another small corner full of charm and an interesting local way of life, no less captivating than other famous provinces in Vietnam.
Traveling to Thai Binh is not complicated. I chose to travel from Hanoi by local bus, which took about two and a half hours. The route gave me the chance to see vast rice fields stretching as far as the eye can see, along with orderly rows of northern Vietnamese-style houses lining both sides of the road.
Atmosphere and lifestyle in Thai Binh city
As soon as I got off the bus in the city center of Thai Binh, the aroma of local food and the chatter of people in the fresh market were clearly noticeable. The market here is full of cheerful vendors selling fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, seafood, and traditional Vietnamese dishes that still retain their original flavors without excessive seasoning.
At the market, I triedgrilled squidwhich is one of the signature dishes of northern Vietnam. The fresh squid, served hot and mixed with local spices, made me realize that the freshness and taste of ingredients here are very different from elsewhere. (If you are interested in how to prepare and eat this dish like Mr.Hotsia, you can watchthe grilled squid Vietnam clip)
Experience culture and interesting places in the province
Although Thai Binh is not a province with famous tourist attractions like other cities in Vietnam, it has temples and sacred places that offer a truly peaceful and magical feeling. I visited an ancient temple that serves as a spiritual center for the locals. You will see monks and nuns practicing meditation simply, and villagers continuously coming to pray and make offerings.
The atmosphere in the temple reminded me ofBuddhist temples in Da Lat citywhich I had visited before. Although located in a different region, the peace and faith shared there made me feel the continuity of the deep and strong Buddhist culture in Vietnam.
Local food not to be missed in Thai Binh
Speaking of food in this province, there are many dishes with extraordinary flavors. I found a Vietnamese chicken biryani restaurant recommended by locals, which differs from the chicken biryani in big cities. It has a rich taste and a perfectly balanced aroma of spices. (For those who want to see how Mr.Hotsia eats chicken biryani, I recommend clickingwatch this clip)
There is also fresh fish and shrimp soup from the river flowing through the province, which I tried at a small roadside restaurant. The clear, flavorful broth with fish meat and fresh vegetables made me appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and the care locals put into cooking.
Travel and accommodation in Thai Binh Province
For me, traveling alone and focusing on experiencing the real way of life, I chose a small guesthouse with a very friendly owner, moderate prices, and reasonable comfort. Getting around the city is easy, with motorbike rentals available, or you can enjoy walking around the city for a different kind of fun.
If you like to travel like me, having visited other cities in Vietnam such asLang Son Provinceor relaxing by the sea atNha Trang sea beachI recommend stopping by Thai Binh as well, because here you will get a truly different experience.
Summary of Mr.Hotsia's impressions of Thai Binh
For me, Thai Binh is a province full of simplicity and warmth from the locals, fresh food, and unhurried travel. It is suitable for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of big cities and truly experience local life. I believe that if you visit, you will discover new perspectives of northern Vietnam that you have never seen anywhere else.
