Tuyen Quang: A Mountain Town Preserving the Purity of Northern Vietnam
This trip took me to Tuyen Quang Province, located in northern Vietnam. This is not a province widely known to tourists worldwide, but for mr.hotsia, Tuyen Quang is a land full of natural charm and a strong, unique local culture.
From my own experience, Tuyen Quang is a province with a complex landscape of mountains and plateaus, with a main river flowing as the lifeblood of the community. The air here is fresher than in big cities, and it retains a peacefulness that is rare nowadays. I traveled by bus from Lang Son city, a nearby province where I stayed at the affordable Hoang Son hotel. The journey was not difficult. The Lifestyle of Tuyen Quang People: Morning Market and Local Food
What impressed me greatly was the atmosphere of the morning market in Tuyen Quang town. This market is a meeting point for villagers from surrounding areas who bring produce from their farms and local foods to sell. Fresh vegetables, wild fruits, and local spices are available in abundance. The aroma of spices and freshly made food made me eager to taste authentic Northern Vietnamese cuisine here.
The food in Tuyen Quang is distinctly different from other regions, such as the Vietnamese chicken biryani which is unlike the southern or Thai versions. I tried it at a small roadside shop where the owner was cheerful and friendly. There is also a grilled button squid dish that is hard to find elsewhere, which I recorded in a videoherefor those who love to see food in full view.
Nature and Travel in Tuyen Quang
Tuyen Quang is surrounded by high mountains and abundant nature. Hiking and enjoying views from mountain peaks are activities I did not miss. Along the way, you will meet various hill tribes who still firmly preserve their traditional lifestyles. Although some development has started, the original atmosphere remains largely unchanged.
The routes in this province may not be as convenient as in big cities, but for travelers who enjoy challenges and discovering the true charm of Northern Vietnam, Tuyen Quang is the answer. I spent several days traveling and connecting with locals to capture images and stories to share.

There, you can find interesting markets and attractions such as Nhi Thanh Grotto and To Thi Mountain, which I have shared inthis articleTraveling between provinces in Northern Vietnam is convenient by local buses and taxis, but be careful with language and routes.
Additionally, if you want to relax in a different natural atmosphere, I have written aboutBuddhist Temples in Da Lat Citylocated in Lam Dong Province, which offers tranquility and beautiful lake views. Traveling there provides a completely different experience from Tuyen Quang.
