Experience the taste of "Pak Mor" at Talat Yai Ubon with authentic Vietnamese cuisine by mr.hotsia

When it comes to Vietnamese food in Thailand, many might think of Nem Nuong or Vietnamese Jjap. But for me, mr.hotsia, trying "Pak Mor" at Talat Yai Ubon Ratchathani was an unforgettable experience. The Pak Mor here is not just ordinary dumplings or snacks, but authentic Vietnamese food that carries the true essence from Uncle Ho's land.

Talat Yai Ubon is a hub for the Vietnamese community that has lived in this province for a long time. I found many shops selling Pak Mor here, each with its own unique character and special recipe. I wandered the market hungry, determined to find something delicious to eat. Then I came across a small shop with the fragrant aroma of steamed flour and Vietnamese spices wafting to my nose.

The Pak Mor here uses thin rice flour wrappers filled with minced pork mixed with shiitake mushrooms and fresh vegetables, topped with a special dipping sauce that perfectly balances sweet and sour flavors. I liked that the wrapper was soft but not mushy, the filling was dense and flavorful. With the first bite, I felt the freshness and the incredible balance of the seasonings.

The lifestyle and atmosphere of Talat Yai Ubon beyond just eating

Talat Yai Ubon is not only known for Pak Mor but also clearly reflects the lifestyle of the Vietnamese people in this community. I watched people shopping for fresh produce, vegetables, fruits, and Vietnamese cooking ingredients here. The market was full of colors and warm daily life scenes, with elderly vendors still using traditional selling methods and younger generations incorporating technology to assist their sales.

I spoke with one Pak Mor shop owner who told me that his family moved here from Lang Son province in northern Vietnam, a province I have visited and written about in an article.Lang Son Province, VietnamHearing his story made me feel more connected to the roots of Vietnamese food and culture.

Vietnamese food in Ubon and convenient travel

Traveling to Talat Yai Ubon is very easy. I drove about 10 minutes from the city center. The market is located in an easily accessible area and is also close to the bus station I used when traveling to nearby provinces like Vinh Long, which you can read more about in the article.Vinh Long Bus StationAdditionally, Ubon Ratchathani is a central hub connecting various provinces both in Thailand and neighboring countries.

After enjoying Pak Mor, I also tried other Vietnamese dishes such as grilled button squid and Vietnamese-style chicken biryani. The flavors and aroma of the spices impressed me equally. Connecting culture and flavors through markets and food

For me, mr.hotsia, this trip to Talat Yai Ubon was not just about eating Vietnamese food but a cultural journey. Seeing the real life of Vietnamese people in Ubon, talking and understanding their way of life made me feel like I traveled across the border to experience northern Vietnam up close.

Imagine a morning at Talat Yai market, the sound of people speaking the local language, the scent of spices and food drifting through the air, mixed with the bustling scenes of vendors and shoppers moving about. It is a lively and warm feeling at the same time.

If you love traveling and discovering local flavors, I recommend you come here. You will see that Vietnamese food in Thailand has deeper dimensions and stories than you might think.
