vịt quay móc mật Rotisserie Duck in Hà Tĩnh Province, Vietnam
My journey in Vietnam this time brought me to Hà Tĩnh Province, which, although not a popular tourist destination, hides fascinating local culture and cuisine that left a lasting impression on me. Especially the dish “vịt quay móc mật,” or rotisserie duck, which is a unique specialty different from other roasted ducks. I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to experience it firsthand.
Upon arriving at the market in Hà Tĩnh city, the aroma of roasted duck carried by the wind was irresistible, leading me inside. The roasted duck stalls here have a unique grill where ducks are hung and rotated continuously on an automatic metal rod, allowing the skin to cook evenly, crispy on the outside and tender inside. Duck lovers here call this style “móc mật,” which means hanging and rotating the duck in a distinctive way unique to Hà Tĩnh locals.
The specialness of this roasted duck is not only in the rotation but also in the marinade made from fresh herbs and local spices combined with real honey, giving the duck skin a golden color and a sweet, appetizing aroma. I ordered my first piece with sticky rice and fresh vegetables on the side. The crispy skin that melts in the mouth and the rich flavor of the duck meat made me feel this meal was worth every penny.
When it comes to tourist spots in Hà Tĩnh Province, there isn’t much information available, but the atmosphere in the market and local eateries here truly feels like stepping back in time. If anyone is interested in trying this rotisserie duck style, I recommend visiting and tasting it directly in this province because the flavor and experience are unlike anywhere else.
Although Hà Tĩnh is not as prominent as Lạng Sơn Province, where I previously stayed and explored in detail (read more atLạng Sơn Province, Vietnam), I feel that the rotisserie duck style móc mật here is another charming aspect of Northern Vietnam that should not be overlooked.
To travel to Hà Tĩnh, you can take a bus from nearby major cities. If you plan to continue to other provinces such as Đà Lạt, known for its beautiful Buddhist temples like Trúc Lâm Temple (Buddhist Temple in Đà Lạt) or to Nha Trang Sea Beach with its stunning coastline (Nha Trang Sea Beach), planning your trip is convenient.
Additionally, if you are a food lover who enjoys Vietnamese cuisine, I, mr.hotsia, also recommend watching my video about this rotisserie duck on YouTube (link:vịt quay móc mật Rotisserie Duck in Hà Tĩnh Province) to experience the exciting atmosphere and roasting process.
In summary, my trip to Hà Tĩnh Province in Vietnam introduced me to a unique and impressive food culture, especially the rotisserie duck “vịt quay móc mật,” which I highly recommend everyone try when visiting Northern Vietnam. Don’t forget to taste it and experience the local lifestyle here for memories full of authentic Vietnamese flavors and atmosphere.
