scientific and technological centers of Central Vietnam. It is the 5th most populous city in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Can Tho. The city is located along the southern central coastline. Danang is one of the three main cities in Central Vietnam, the other two being Hai Phong and Can Tho. Danang is situated on the Han River. To the east is Danang Bay with a long sandy beach.
To the north and west, it is surrounded by high mountains, forming a natural border. Danang is a tourist city because it is surrounded by three cultural world heritage sites: Hue, Hoi An, and My Son. Therefore, Danang is an important hub on the Central Vietnam World Heritage route. In 2010, Danang had 1,770,000 tourists. Foreign tourists to Danang increased again to 370,000,
an 18% increase compared to 2009, and domestic tourists accounted for 1.4 million, generating significant tourism revenue. The plan is to continue increasing tourist arrivals. Mr. Hotsia traveled to Danang for the second time. The first time I visited Hoi An and took a tour to My Son, a World Heritage ancient site, and also toured the city by car.
This second time, I traveled from Dalat, arriving in Danang at 5 AM after a 3 PM departure. I stayed only 1 night in Danang before flying with AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur, a new route. With only 2 days and 1 night, I focused mainly on eating. Next time, I hope to gather more travel information. Traveling to Penang is most convenient by car from Thailand. I recommend crossing the border at Mukdahan, opposite Savannakhet in Laos, then taking a bus to Hue.
Then continue by bus from Hue to Danang, which can be by train or regular bus (see travel to Hue, travel from Hue to Hoi An Danang). If you have money, you can fly from Thailand to Danang with Vietnam Airlines. Danang International Airport is located in the city center. It is Vietnam's third international airport and a key gateway to Central Vietnam. Before 1972,
this airport was one of the busiest in the world for takeoffs and landings during the war when it was an American military base. Currently, it serves domestic flights between major cities in Vietnam such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon, and international flights to Bangkok and Singapore. Hotels and accommodation in Danang: As Danang is a large city, there are many hotels at various price ranges. The affordable and convenient area near tourist spots is around the Han River Bridge in the Han Market zone.
There are hotels priced between 500 - 1000 baht. When I stayed at FC Hotel, it was owned by the same owner as a popular coffee shop with many visitors. The water pressure is strong, located downtown, and the price is reasonable for a new hotel. When planning a trip to Danang, you might want to book hotels in Danang in advance by clicking to book accommodation in Danang through Agoda here. The local food restaurant I recommend is the local Danang cuisine.
It is unique and although unfamiliar to some palates, it is worth trying to experience their eating style. Another restaurant with a view of the Han River is on the second floor of a large mall next to the Han River Bridge. It is like a food court with many local dishes to choose from. Don't forget to enjoy the atmosphere both day and night, especially at night when the Han River lights are beautiful. Another restaurant I tried is the pork rib pho, all delicious as mentioned.
As I said, this trip was mainly for eating. The travel style I recommend is walking along the Han River, trying the food at the restaurants I mentioned above, taking a taxi to Danang Bay, walking around the market, then taking a taxi back. If you have time, buy a tour to visit My Son, a World Heritage site near Danang. Stay 1-2 nights here. At night, don't miss walking and taking photos by the Han River. Places and cities to visit next after Danang are Hoi An and Hue,
because they are nearby. mr.hotsia March 2012 Mr. Hotsia recommends hotels in Danang size="5" Han River Bridge DANANG VIETNAM night Han River Bridge Danang Vietnam 16 4 7.362 N, 108 13 30.575 E GPS coordinates (POI) Marble sculptures along the Han River 16 4 15.72 N, 108 13 24.396 E Local Danang cuisine 16 4 29.459 N, 108 13 28.955 E Fishing nets on the Han River 16 4 32.724 N, 108 10 41.699 E Hammerhead sharks at Danang Bay market
