After I walked through the Samrong morning market, I sat down to eat pork rice in front of the market. On my way back to the accommodation, I saw many Khmer people walking to the temple, so I followed them and brought sticky rice grilled from the market to join in the merit-making. Here, I saw children and women.
Before school, students come to offer alms at the temple in the morning. The attire of the Khmer people coming to make merit is impressive. From my conversations with Khmer locals, women going to the temple must wear white shirts. As I experienced in Kracheh during the Khmer New Year, they wore full traditional attire for the big merit-making event. Even on ordinary Buddhist holy days, the pavilion is almost full. The attire has a charm that mr.hotsia really likes. On Buddhist holy days, they offer alms and present offerings to the monks, then listen to sermons.
