Traveling to Svay Rieng Province http://www.hotsia.com > Svay Rieng Province > Traveling to Svay Rieng Province I traveled to Svay Rieng Province coming from Kampong Speu Province. I took a boat across Tonle Sap Lake from Siem Reap to Kampong Speu, then stayed there one night. In the morning, I took a bus from Kampong Speu to Phnom Penh, then transferred to a bus from Phnom Penh to Svay Rieng. I was on a bus from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City but got off only at Svay Rieng. The bus left Phnom Penh at 3 PM but was delayed waiting for passengers.
The bus arrived at Svay Rieng almost at dusk. I took a motorcycle taxi for 20 baht to my accommodation. Try clicking on the GPS coordinates in the photos. If you come in the evening like me, you will see worker shuttle vehicles returning home of Svay Rieng locals. They are cute vehicles where many people sit or stand together, creating a warm atmosphere. I have some photos to share. Svay Rieng Province also has an airport, but I don't know how to get there or the price. I recommend taking the bus and then continuing your trip to Vietnam. Stay one night in Bavet and then proceed to Ho Chi Minh City.
If traveling from Phnom Penh, you must take a ferry boat across the river at Neak Lueang town. The Mekong River there is very wide (a bridge is under construction). Neak Lueang town belongs to Prey Veng Province. This town is lively with horse carts carrying goods to see. If you travel by air-conditioned bus, you just stay on the bus. If using other vehicles, you might get off to breathe fresh air while on the ferry. From this point, it takes about 1 hour to Svay Rieng. mr.hotsia August 2012
