Wuhan City: A major city in central China where the Yangtze River flows through

When talking about large cities in China located in the heart of the country, not mentioningWuhan Citywould be impossible. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province. This city is notable for the Yangtze River flowing through its center. I, mr.hotsia, measured it on Google Earth and can say the river here is very wide, about 2 kilometers across. Compared to the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, which is only 400 meters wide, this is what makes Wuhan charming and important both geographically and culturally.

During my trip to this city, I intended to experience it like a true traveler, not just taking photos at typical tourist spots. For me, Wuhan is a city to experience the lifestyle along the Yangtze River. Taking the local ferry boat, cruising the river at night with lights reflecting on the vast water is a uniquely charming atmosphere.Yangtze River Cruise in Wuhanis one of the experiences I highly recommend everyone to try.

Yangtze River Bridge: A Pride of Wuhan Residents

One thing that impressed me greatly is the Yangtze River Bridge here. This bridge was built over 50 years ago and allows both trains and cars to cross simultaneously. It is a source of pride for the Chinese and Wuhan people. I walked across this bridge several times and saw that it is not just a river crossing but a symbol of engineering progress and the importance of this major city in China.

Riverside Lifestyle and City Transportation

I, mr.hotsia, took the opportunity to stroll along the Yangtze River, ride the local ferry, and try the subway that runs under the river. It is very convenient and offers a unique view of the two sides of the city. Wuhan is divided by the large river, so the subway is an essential mode of transport for visitors and residents.

For those who want to explore the whole city, I recommend staying on the west side, which is lively with restaurants, walking streets, and importantly close to the main train station and high-speed rail.Hotels in WuhanI stayed at Home Inn Hotel located in the city center. The staff were very helpful and provided a city map, which made exploring and using the subway much easier.

Dining Experience in Wuhan: Chinese Hot Pot Buffet and Fried Chicken

Speaking of food in Wuhan, on my first night I chose a hot pot buffet near my hotel, Home Inn. The street atmosphere was filled with the distinctive smell of stinky tofu, a true Chinese specialty. The hot pot here was exceptional with many meat options and importantly, unlimited free beer. I regretted finding out late and only managed to drink two bottles.

For lunch, I tried ordering from food stalls inside the Wuhan Computer Building, a huge IT and computer market. There were many food options with picture menus, making ordering easy and fun. For dinner the next day, I visited a walking street with a famous Chinese fried chicken shop, very different from our local KFC.Wuhan Fried Chicken Shopoffers a unique taste and crispiness. Anyone who loves fried chicken must try it.

Arrival in Wuhan and Preparation

For my trip, I, mr.hotsia, recommend flying direct to Wuhan with AirAsia for convenience and affordability. During promotions, tickets cost only 2,000 to 3,000 baht per flight. Compared to traveling by bus or connecting flights plus train, this saves time and money. Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is about 26 kilometers from the city center, roughly a 30-minute drive, with expressway access to the airport.Wuhan AirportNot very large but equipped with basic facilities.

Once in the city, transportation is very convenient with a subway line running under the Yangtze River, allowing quick and easy access to various points. There are many accommodation options; I recommend booking in advance because Chinese visa applications require proof of hotel booking and round-trip flight tickets.

Impressions from mr.hotsia about Wuhan

I see Wuhan not only for tourist spots like the Yellow Crane Tower that many talk about, but what makes this city memorable is the grandeur of the Yangtze River, the riverside lifestyle, and the experience of walking in a big city that blends modernity with traditional Chinese culture.

While strolling in the city and riding the subway, stepping out at any station reveals a city life distinctly different from ours, in language, eating habits, and daily atmosphere. Trying the hot pot buffet with free beer, the Chinese fried chicken on the walking street, and the ferry ride across the wide Yangtze River are memories I, mr.hotsia, will never forget.
