The Changsha high-speed railway station is about 30 minutes from the city. I don't recommend taking the bus to Changsha as it is long and tiring. For traveling within Changsha, there are plenty of taxis available. If you plan to visit the ancient town Fenghuang, Zhangjiajie, or play in the snow at Yuelu Mountain, it is best to stay one night in Changsha. There are many good accommodations in Changsha. You can travel from Guangzhou by bullet train and then transfer by car from this city to visit various tourist spots in the city.
Hunan Provincial Museum is open from 09:00 to 17:00, closed only on Mondays. Mr.Hotsia did not visit this Changsha museum, but it is known for having a 2,100-year-old female corpse from the Han dynasty in an incredibly well-preserved state. The museum also has many other ancient artifacts. When I visited Changsha, I strolled through the city center looking for local food and bought clothes and souvenirs from Changsha.
Changsha city has many buildings and shopping malls in the city center offering a wide variety of clothing and fashion items. I stayed one night in downtown Changsha on December 31, 2012. There was a countdown event with music performances from a Chinese girl famous on the internet playing on an iPhone. In Changsha, I experienced traditional Chinese foot massage, which includes soaking feet in warm water, nail cleaning, and foot massage. Besides the Chinese massage, I recommend exploring the local food street according to the coordinates I provided.
Like other cities in China, Changsha sells fried stinky tofu, which smells very strong and I did not dare to eat it. Changsha has distinct winter and summer climates. Winter months are November to March with temperatures ranging from 1 to 7 degrees Celsius. Summer lasts four months from June to September with temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius. Mr.Hotsia likes cold weather, so I traveled at the end of the year when the cold weather was about 5 degrees Celsius.
