I find Balinese food delicious and quite similar to Thai cuisine, partly because the local plants, vegetables, and trees are similar, such as chili and coconut, as well as animals. Therefore, the food tastes not very different. Balinese curry dishes resemble central Thai coconut milk curries. Some southern Thai people say many dishes are similar to southern Thailand.
Balinese Cuisine: I can't believe how much I enjoyed Balinese food. Sate Kambing is the ultimate Balinese satay that I love the most. I usually like satay, and in Indonesia, I found very delicious satay called "sate kambing" — fragrant, tender goat meat satay served with thick, slightly sweet satay sauce. Absolutely delicious. The price is 45 baht for 10 sticks of goat satay, but for pork or chicken,
offal satay is even cheaper. Chicken satay "SATE AYAM" is tender and delicious, priced at 30 baht per set, excluding rice. But if you order with rice and soup, it's even better. I think Bali in Indonesia is a paradise for satay lovers like me. Balinese rice with curry, Indonesia. The dish shown is Balinese rice with curry, commonly sold by street vendors. Fortunately, they provide spoons. In typical Balinese eateries, no spoons are given, so you have to eat with your hands, which I find tastier. The amount of curry poured over the rice can vary.
If you add many types of curry, the price increases, like the dish shown costing over 100 baht. Balinese people prefer tea over plain water, unlike Thais, but bottled water is available in food stalls. Indonesian food is similar to southern Thai food — spicy and delicious. I love it and try many dishes. Watch the Indonesian food clips by mr.hotsia. Another dish I like is Nasi Goreng, Indonesian fried rice (NASI GORENG), a common street food. The hotel where I stayed sells it for 20,000 rupiah,
about 60 baht, but street vendors outside sell it for around 40 baht. Indonesian fried rice is topped with fragrant fried shallots. The rice is a bit firm, delicious, somewhat like traditional Thai fried rice I've had. I like that they serve chili on the side. It's very tasty but should be paired with satay for extra protein to enhance the flavor. Mr.Hotsia recommends hotels in Bali and the best areas to stay.
