Volcano Lava Fried Basil with Fried Egg: A spicy delight you must try in central Laos

If you've followed mr.hotsia for a long time, you know my travels are not just about nature sightseeing or taking beautiful photos. Food is always part of the journey. This time, I bring you a special dish from Laos called"Volcano Lava Fried Basil with Fried Egg"It's not just a unique name, but the taste is powerful and satisfying enough to share.

I traveled into the rural areas of Laos, a place not well known, where the atmosphere remains raw and peaceful. I saw locals living simply. I had the chance to taste the Volcano Lava Fried Basil here, which differs from the usual fried basil dishes I've had before. The highlight is the Laotian fried egg served alongside, resembling an erupting volcano because the yolk flows like hot lava. Breaking the yolk and mixing it with hot rice, combined with the spicy fried basil sauce made from mr.hotsia's special recipe, elevates the flavor to another level.

The Volcano Fried Basil sauce, carefully made by mr.hotsia, is available for purchase on Lazada and Shopee. I recommend trying to order it to cook at home because this flavor is hard to find unless you come directly to Laos.Watch the Volcano Lava Fried Basil with Fried Egg videoI personally prepared it to show the real steps and atmosphere from the field.

Atmosphere and lifestyle of the local Laotian people

Laos remains a very natural country, especially in the rural areas I visited. The surroundings are full of mountains and the gently flowing Mekong River. Most people still live simply following traditional ways. I had the chance to stop by a local market by the Mekong River, filled with fresh produce and local foods that are hard to find in big cities.Kha Mu local market deep in the forest by the Mekong RiverHere you can find fresh vegetables, fruits, and very interesting local foods.

Though a small market, the atmosphere is lively and full of smiles from locals warmly welcoming tourists. I tried authentic Laotian papaya salad, which was spicy and paired very well with the Volcano Fried Basil. If you love spicy food and want to experience genuine local life, I recommend spending at least a full day walking around here.

Travel and convenience

Traveling to the area where I tasted the Volcano Lava Fried Basil with Fried Egg might seem a bit challenging since it’s not a main tourist city. But this challenge makes the journey fun and allows you to experience the authentic atmosphere. I chose to travel by small boat along the Mekong River. Local boats offer tours along both riverbanks and riverside communities.Boat trip in LaosIt’s an experience not to be missed because you get to see the villagers’ way of life and the truly beautiful nature.

Additionally, traveling by car from the main city is a convenient option if you want a mixed experience of both car and boat travel to capture diverse experiences.

Must-try dishes in Laos and nearby areas

After enjoying the Volcano Lava Fried Basil with Fried Egg, I also tried other interesting local dishes in the region such as grilled chicken, Laotian papaya salad, and sticky rice, which combine sweetness, richness, and spiciness in one plate.
