Beer Lao (beer lao) Before reaching Phongsaly (make sure to pronounce it right) Phu Fa Stupa .. Phongsaly Eating at a local Phongsaly home From Muang Khwa to Dien Bien Phu Phongsaly Bus Station 2014 Guesthouse in Phongsaly Boat from Had Sa to Muang Khwa Phongsaly Morning Market 2014 It is hard to find a cold Beer Lao bottle in Thailand or other countries worldwide because Beer Lao is not made for global export but for Lao people

and tourists visiting Laos only. Beer Lao may have some exports but very little, almost none. Visiting Laos means you must try Beer Lao. Why is Beer Lao so delicious? Not only Thai tourists love Beer Lao but tourists worldwide enjoy it too. But it is not pronounced 'kheuy lao' because
the Lao script for 'bo bai mai' looks like our word for egg, and the Lao vowel 'ia' is written without the 'i' sound above, so it sounds like 'ia' directly. I learned this after buying Lao textbooks out of curiosity. So Beer Lao, no matter how it's written or in which language, is pronounced 'Beer Lao' only. The term 'kheuy lao' does not exist in pronunciation. Whether someone becomes a son-in-law in Laos is another story. I had the chance to talk with Lao people about the main Beer Lao production source.
Lao people know well that Beer Lao is produced in Vientiane and does not use Mekong River water but groundwater as the primary raw water for brewing. It is said that beer quality depends not just on the recipe but on the water and rice used. For example, Heineken beer sold worldwide tastes different depending on the rice used. Beer Lao uses natural Lao rice in production
making Beer Lao uniquely delicious in the world. Beer Lao is produced by Lao Brewery Co (LBC), quality controlled by the Lao government, with production based in Vientiane. In 2006, a 50% shareholding was added, but the quality remained the same. How delicious is it? Let me take you to taste it today. I walked down from Phu Fa peak and headed near my accommodation. Last night, arriving in Phongsaly at 9 PM, all restaurants were closed, so I survived on instant Chinese noodles.
In the morning, I had a small bowl of pho. My hunger kicked in. There is a Chinese restaurant near my accommodation in Phongsaly that was closed last night. Today, I took my revenge by ordering food and rice. While waiting, I ordered Beer Lao. The Chinese restaurant where I drank Beer Lao serves it with 5% alcohol, similar to Thai beer. Beer Lao tastes slightly sweet and is easier to drink than Singha or Leo beers. If you prefer less bitter beer or are a woman who dislikes bitter beer,
you will likely enjoy Beer Lao. But Beer Lao gets you drunk like any other beer. It’s easier to drink and has its own fragrant style. Because it’s easy to drink, you may drink more and feel drunk after several bottles. Actually, the alcohol content is the same as Thai beer, but drinking a lot causes intoxication. Regarding price, wholesale price at shops is about 40 baht per bottle or 10,000 kip. Few shops sell at 9,000 kip per bottle. Even when I arrived in Phongsaly, it was sold at 10,000 kip in convenience stores.
In the restaurant where I ate today, it was chilled perfectly at the same price. I assume because it traveled a long way from Vientiane. It’s very delicious, sweet and fragrant beer :) In Laos, there are not only Beer Lao but also new beers with cheaper prices. However, Lao people and tourists prefer Beer Lao. Beer Lao holds 99% market share of beer consumed by Lao people. I drank one bottle of Beer Lao
and my food arrived just in time. Actually, two bottles of Beer Lao are just right. It’s easy to drink and finishes quickly. After two bottles, I started feeling drunk. But the problem is the same for beer drinkers worldwide: a round face, belly fat, and weight gain if you don’t exercise. Everyone gains weight. So please take care of your health, friends. Drink beer but also exercise, then drink again. I’ll end the Beer Lao story here. Tonight at 6 PM, I have an appointment with an elder from Phu Fa
to have dinner at his home and cook together. See you tonight. Drunk already... mr.Hotsia This photo was taken at Khob Jai Der restaurant at Huay Sai opposite Chiang Khong. This is "Champalao" liquor taken at a restaurant in Sam Nuea. I never tried it, just took a photo. House number sign of Lao people I talked with.
