This is not just an ordinary lake but a source of life and culture for the Tai Yai and Kachin people living around the lake in over 20 villages.

I had the opportunity to taste a signature local dish called “Indawgyi Fried Rice,” a simple yet powerful dish that truly reflects the lifestyle of the people here. This fried rice is full of fresh local ingredients including fresh vegetables, river fish, and spices carefully prepared by the villagers. Stir-fried until fragrant, it offers a unique traditional flavor. I traveled to lakeside villages that still preserve their traditional way of life, saw locals fishing naturally, and they used those ingredients to cook this fried rice for me to try.

Visiting Indawgyi is not just about eating fried rice but also experiencing the peaceful and stunning natural atmosphere around the lake. The lake stretches 13 kilometers east to west and 24 kilometers north to south, situated about 166 meters above sea level.
