Ann Town is located on Myanmar's Andaman coast. It is a town blending Rakhine culture with the simplicity of coastal village life. Although not many tourists visit yet, for those who enjoy tranquility and want to experience the real lifestyle of Myanmar people, this town is a very interesting destination.

Traveling to Ann Town

From my experience, mr.hotsia, traveling by local bus and shared truck from the big city Sittwe to Ann Town, the route may not be very comfortable but is filled with beautiful natural views on both sides, especially the long blue sky and small mountains scattered among roadside villages. Local Markets and Street Food

What impressed me in Ann Town was walking through the local market full of vendors and the aroma of local food. The atmosphere was lively. Though not as large as big city markets, the variety of local dishes including chicken curry, side dishes with local herbs, and Burmese desserts made me want to try everything.

The street food stall I often visited was a small shop where the owner cooked with heart. The freshness and mild flavor of the chicken curry, similar to what I had in Yangon but with different spices used in Rakhine State, stood out.

Although Ann Town is not a major tourist city, it has natural sites and temples worth exploring. I recommend visiting small beaches along the quiet Andaman coast to experience pristine nature. You can also visit local temples featuring Burmese architecture blended with Rakhine uniqueness.
