Eating Omelette Rice in Hakha City, Kachin State, Myanmar
I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to travel to Hakha, a small town in Kachin State, also called Kachin, Myanmar. This place is not only known for its beautiful nature and interesting tribal culture but also for local food that impressed me greatly, especially the simple homemade omelette rice that reminded me of simplicity yet with a uniquely deep delicious flavor.
Traveling to Hakha is not easy because this town is located in the mountainous area of Kachin State in northern Myanmar. As I have written before,Kachin Stateis the source of the Irrawaddy River and rich in abundant nature. Hakha itself is considered the gateway to the Kachin tribes and an area that clearly preserves traditional ways of life.
On the day I arrived at Hakha's morning market, the aroma of omelette rice frying on a large pan was tempting. I saw a kind vendor frying large omelettes in hot oil using fresh eggs from local farms, frying until the edges were crispy but the center remained soft. Served with hot steamed rice and a spicy Burmese dipping sauce that perfectly balanced sour, sweet, and salty flavors.
I have never eaten an omelette like this anywhere else because of the simplicity of local ingredients like fresh chicken eggs and minimal seasoning, yet it reflected a harmonious flavor that deserved praise. There were also side dishes like fresh vegetables and spicy chili paste that complemented my meal perfectly that day.
Another thing that impressed me was the lifestyle of the people in Hakha, whether it was small roadside food stalls or elderly vendors frying omelettes with warm and kind smiles. Hakha's morning market is a place where I truly experienced the atmosphere of the Kachin community that still preserves local culture well.
If you have a chance to visit Kachin State, don't forget to try the omelette rice in Hakha. It may look simple, but the taste is profound and filled with the genuine warmth of the local people.

Travel and Tips from mr.hotsia
For traveling to Hakha, I mostly recommend going by car or motorcycle because roads in Kachin State are still not very convenient, especially during the rainy season when roads can be slippery and muddy. I rented a motorcycle to visit the Irrawaddy River's source at Myitsone, not far from Hakha. Riding through small villages and green mountain views made me forget all fatigue.
One thing I want to emphasize is that when traveling in Kachin State or Hakha, you should prepare clothing and rain gear properly. Also, learning basic Burmese vocabulary or if you meet locals who speak Kachin language, it will help communication flow smoothly and give you a more immersive experience of the local lifestyle.
Finally, if you want to see the real atmosphere and watch the omelette rice eating live from Hakha, mr.hotsia recommends watching the video I recorded.Eating Omelette Rice in Hakha City, Kachin StateOn YouTube, you will feel like sitting and eating right beside me.
I, mr.hotsia, leave this small story for fans who love traveling and truly enjoy local food. Who would have thought that just simple homemade omelette rice in a small town like Hakha would impress me so much that I want to share it with everyone like this.
