mr.hotsia@Sittwe 2/20: Giant Crab, Large Lobster, Bay of Bengal Chaung Thar Berach Myanmar
When talking about deep sea travel in Myanmar, it's not just about pagodas and ancient temples but full of fresh seafood and the coastal villagers' lifestyle that remains truly natural. I, mr.hotsia, want to share from the heart about Bay of Bengal Chaung Thar Berach in Sittwe. This place is not only beautiful sea but also a source of fresh seafood that amazed me enough to record it in my travel journal.
Sittwe, a coastal city on Myanmar's west coast, might be unfamiliar to many, but if you love fresh seafood, this is a paradise for seafood lovers. I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to visit the morning market at Bay of Bengal Chaung Thar Berach and saw giant crabs and large lobsters that made me rub my eyes in disbelief. The freshness from the sea here is truly different from any seafood market I've ever visited.
The seaside market at Chaung Thar Berach is filled with the sounds of bargaining and the scent of the sea mixed with herbs and spices used for cooking. I watched vendors handling blue crabs, tiger prawns, and lobsters so large it was hard to believe. The locals use traditional fishing methods, paddling small boats in the Bay of Bengal to catch seasonal seafood. This makes the fresh seafood dishes I tasted afterward the most special and delicious in my travel experience.
From sea to table, I tried grilled giant crab with fragrant smoky aroma, sweet and firm meat filling every bite. The fresh lobster, weighing more than half a kilogram, was grilled hot and served with a spicy seafood dipping sauce made from lime, fresh chili, and garlic. This sauce perfectly complemented the extremely fresh seafood here.
Additionally, I, mr.hotsia, took a walk along Chaung Thar beach, which has a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for those wanting to escape the city's hustle. At sunset, the golden orange light reflecting on the sand and sea waves makes this one of the most impressive viewpoints I've ever seen.
Traveling to Sittwe and the Bay of Bengal here is still not widely known among foreign tourists, but if you love adventure, food, and experiencing authentic coastal life, I, mr.hotsia, recommend you try it at least once.
For those interested in the Irrawaddy River and the origin of this important river in Myanmar, I have written about it in an articleKachin Statewhich is in northern Myanmar. It is the starting point of this river over 2,000 kilometers long, connecting with the lifestyle of southern Myanmar people as well.
If you enjoy travel that combines nature, lifestyle, and fresh seafood, I, mr.hotsia, want you to visit Sittwe and Bay of Bengal Chaung Thar Berach at least once. I guarantee a unique experience.
