SITTWE 1: amazing SITTWE MYANMAR

When talking about Myanmar, many people probably think of Bagan, Yangon, or the capital Naypyidaw. But for me, mr.hotsia, Sittwe is a uniquely charming city, the starting point of a deeply memorable travel experience in Myanmar.

Sittwe is located on the Andaman Sea coast, at the northern part of the Bay of Bengal. It is an important port city of Rakhine State. Although not widely talked about, this city is full of stories and a cultural blend of Burmese, Muslim, and other ethnic minorities, creating a diverse and intriguing atmosphere.

Upon arriving in Sittwe, the first thing I felt was the simple and warm coastal lifestyle. The riverside fresh market impressed me greatly, filled with vendors selling fresh produce, seafood, and tropical fruits. I tried Hilsa fish, a famous sea fish from the Bay of Bengal and Myanmar. Its unique fresh taste and aroma made me feel like I was tasting the true flavor of the Andaman Sea directly.

Sittwe is a city that still preserves its traditions well. I strolled along small streets lined with old wooden houses and local shops. Talking with locals helped me understand the deep connection between the people and the river and the Andaman Sea. There is no rush here; everything moves slowly and naturally.

For nature lovers, near Sittwe there are interesting natural attractions such as the origin of the Irrawaddy River at Myitsone, where the Mali and Mekha rivers merge to form Myanmar's main river. I traveled this route and recommend renting a motorcycle to enjoy the roadside views. Besides being fun, it allows close encounters with small communities along both riverbanks.Travel to the origin of the Irrawaddy River, Kachin StateAnother experience I think is worth trying

Besides nature and culture, the food in Sittwe is not to be missed. I walked through the morning market and found various local eateries offering traditional Burmese dishes and fresh seafood prepared simply but with bold flavors. I recommend trying the fish curry or grilled fish here because the freshness and authentic Burmese herb aroma are hard to find elsewhere.

Traveling in Sittwe, although there is no modern public transport like big cities, I enjoyed the simplicity of riding a motorcycle taxi or walking around the town. This slow travel gave me time to savor the atmosphere and capture the real lifestyle of the locals.

I also met Muslim communities and ethnic minorities in the area with unique cultural identities. Seeing the peaceful coexistence of multiple ethnic groups in Sittwe reflects a fascinating diversity worthy of study rather than just passing tourism.

If you like travel that is not just about taking photos but want to experience the real life of people and nature, Sittwe is your answer. I, mr.hotsia, want you to try this experience here once. I guarantee you will fall in love just like me.
