Nong Yuyu Ngapali Myanmar: Experience the beautiful Andaman coastal atmosphere

When talking about beautiful and peaceful beaches in Myanmar, the nameNgapalidefinitely comes to my mind, mr.hotsia. This is a small corner of Myanmar hidden along the Andaman coast, where the beauty of nature and local culture blend perfectly. I had the chance to visit here with Nong Yuyu, my trusted travel companion, and I want to share honestly the feelings and atmosphere we experienced.

Journey to Ngapali

Ngapali is located on Myanmar's coastline. Although it is not as famous as Kachin State or Bagan, it has a distinct charm. Traveling here is not difficult. I chose to fly into Thandwe Airport, which is not far from Ngapali Beach. From the airport, you can rent a car or take a taxi to the beach in less than 30 minutes. The scenery along the way reminded me of the simple coastal life in Myanmar.

Atmosphere and Lifestyle in Ngapali

When stepping onto Ngapali Beach, the first thing I felt was the peace and cleanliness of the fine white sand. The deep blue sea stretches as far as the eye can see. Local fishermen set out early in the morning to catch fish. Nong Yuyu loved this atmosphere because the locals firmly maintain their traditional way of life, especially fishing, which is the main occupation and the heart of the community.

I had the opportunity to talk with fishermen returning from the sea. They told me that most of the fish caught are sold in local markets or sent to Thandwe and nearby big cities, which reminded me ofthe Irrawaddy River riverside market in Patheinthat I have visited, which has a similar fishing lifestyle.

Fresh Seafood in Ngapali

For a food lover like me, mr.hotsia, Ngapali is a seafood paradise. A must-try dish is the "salt-grilled fish," prepared in a traditional way by locals. The flavor is rich from the freshness of the fish and the aroma of local herbs. Nong Yuyu and I also tried grilled prawns, grilled squid, and fresh oysters right on the beach. The prices were affordable, and the taste was so delicious that we wanted to eat them again and again.

Most seaside restaurants are small wooden houses run by families. Simple single-dish meals like seafood fried rice or fish curry are very tasty. I recommend trying Myanmar beer paired with seafood here; it feels like dining on a dream beach.

Activities and Attractions Around Ngapali

Besides the beautiful beach, Ngapali is suitable for tourists who enjoy water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayaking. Nong Yuyu and I rented a kayak to explore coral reefs and the underwater world, which remains very well preserved. There is also a stunning sunset viewpoint that I highly recommend everyone to experience at least once.

For those who want to explore further, nearby Kachin State has interesting attractions such asthe Irrawaddy River source at Mitzonand Indawgyi Lake, known for its biodiversity and wildlife. I have written about these in previous articles. It is also a great opportunity to experience the culture of the Kachin and Red Tai people living in the area up close.

mr.hotsia's Travel Tips for Ngapali

From my experience traveling with Nong Yuyu, I recommend preparing well for transportation because public transport is still limited. Renting a car or using taxi services will make your trip more comfortable.

Also, don't forget to bring a face mask because some areas have light dust, especially when driving on dirt roads. This is an experience I had when riding a horse cart in Bagan.which I have described in a previous article. Finally, open your heart to fully embrace the local way of life because that is the true charm of traveling.
